De Khambir

This is probably the most famous one in town for Ladakhi cuisine. It is situated on 1st floor near Leh Market. The menu is quite simple. Khambir Sandwiches are a must try here. I found the Skyu to be decent here - it's a local handmade pasta with veggies. We finished with Phating here which was apricot infused with spices and herbs. This one was nice. They have ample amount of seating. Total we spent roughly 400-500 rupees here.

I went to De Khambir the day that they had opened for the season. The food was really delicious and the drinks are excellent too. I ordered the nut and veggie khambir and a ginger lemon honey tea. Both were fantastic! The vibe of the place is really homely and cozy. There are books you can read while you wait for the meal and the view outside the window on both sides is just beautiful. If you want to try local Ladakhi food, this is definitely the place to go! I highly recommend tourists who are visiting Ladakh to come to De Khambir as you can experience delicious Ladakhi food while supporting a women run restaurant.

A hidden gem near Leh market, this place is one of the few that offers truly authentic Ladakhi cuisine. A perfect place to enjoy traditional Ladakhi cuisine in a cozy setting and support a Ladakhi women owned enterprise! Everything we had was spectacular, and Dolma was so kind and welcoming. There are also handmade products for sale.

When we asked for recommendations for local food a couple of people suggested this place. This was situated near the Tibetan market on the 1st floor. Maintained by local women, this is a must try if you want to have some authentic local Ladakhi cuisine on a budget. The ambience was calming and spacious. It has these mattresses on floor with low tables or normal tables for you sit. The food is gonna take some time as it's freshly prepared but it's worth it. The breakfast and dinner both have really good options.

Went here twice! Delicious Khambir, really nice cafe, beautiful space, could be used for yoga! Women run business makes for a nice cafe, feel very comfortable, the staff are so lovely (they even helped me get a haircut by another women-run business!). Had the Tsampa the second time, highly recommend, so filling and healthy.
