Mentokling Guest House And Apple Garden Restaurant

This was a surprise find for us... We stayed only for a day but this place offers great value for money.. Located just opposite to morivian church, the accessibility to this hotel is amazing. They provide hot water 24/7, is very clean n the owner n staff are very courteous. All at a very competitive price.. Amazing experience

Wonderful stay! Feels like an oasis in the heart of Leh. Very clean. Just a short walk to the main shopping area. We especially enjoyed dining and relaxing in the garden restaurant. Lots of choices on the menu at reasonable prices. Great breakfast! Staff also organized our Inner Line Permit for us.

The hotel is in a prime location which is nearby the main market and also has several travel agencies right next to it, we didn't try those but it is a plus. The rooms are quite spacious and have multiple windows where you can enjoy the views from multiple sides. Their restaurant area is very pretty but it was unfortunately not open as there was very low occupancy due to being the very start of the season. The only downside is that there is no electric blanket and also the room heater is chargeable unlike other hotels in the area.

We visited Ladakh during June-July 24. Enjoyed our stay at Mentokling Guest house and also the planned tour with Mr. Sonamji. The guest house rooms are spacious, near the main market and they serve delicious food. Staff is very cooperative. Mr. Sonam is excellent in whatever he does. He is having deep knowledge about local culture, history, places to visit, good command over language in addition to his helping nature. He makes you feel like at home. We enjoyed his company during our seven days tour of Ladakh. At different places, he has made comfortable arrangements that made our tour memorable. I recommend his guest house and his services to potential visitors.

Leh being a tourist hotspot, has many hotels but "Mentokling guest house" stands out among them because of its central location, its like you could walk to the market comfortably from here and even all the good tourist spots are in the vicinity to it. In addition to this, the food here is also very delicious even the staff members here are very kind and always ready to help, rooms are clean..and upon all this the owner of this place Mr Sonam Wangchuk, is a pretty knowledgeable and sweet person.. he may give u good insight of the Ladakhi culture!

Bad experience at the Restaurant. Go at your risk. Food was below standard, stale and the incharge manager was unbothered by my complaint. So I randomly went to the Apple Garden Restaurant part of this Mentokling Guest House. The prices were as much as the good cafes and restaurants at the Leh Main Market. I ordered Steamed Chicken Momo and Chicken 65 Dry. Chicken momo (I will give 5/10) was okay in taste but the outer wrap was stale with too hard edges. One cant eat the edges. Also, the filling was toooo less, just for the name sake. So it was more of a disappointment. Chicken 65 Dry (I will give 1/10) was a disaster. First they gave me gravy. Then, it was all too sour, just added tomato ketchup to make the gravy. Chicken pieces were coated with thick chewy uncooked layer and there was more of the outer thick chewy layer than the chicken. Worst part was, when I complained to the manager there, he ignored me (avoided eye contact, acted casual) and very smartly said "thank you for the feedback". He used a very smart strategy, avoided eye contact and tried to turn my complaint into a feedback. There was no apology, no sorry, no replacement. Never have I ever had such a bad experience with a restaurant manager. The stale food cause me indigestion as well. With the price they have, anyone can eat at a much better place with much better experience.

A very nice and clean hotel cum restaurant. At first I booked one room for two nights, ending up staying 5 nights at the hotel. The greatest advantage of the hotel is its location. It is situated at the heart of the town and is very close to the leh main market (approx 300 mitre). The room rent is also very affordable. The behaviour of the staffs are also very good. I didn't try the restaurant so can't tell anything about the food. Overall I had a very good stay at Mentokling.

This is a lovely guest house in the centre of Leh just minutes from the market place. The service we received here was first class. The staff and the owner were excellent. The food was a real highlight, great variety and all good. They even do an English breakfast. Guests from other hotels were coming to the garden to eat as the food was good and not overpriced. Lovely relaxed atmosphere in the garden with all the different travellers. Best of all, the owner took us on a tour around and gave us an unforgettable experience. Lovely place to stay. 5 stars.
