About Our Restaurant

Daryaganj - By the Inventors of Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani, a North Indian Cuisine restaurant, was conceptualized with the principle of celebrating the culinary legacy of Kundan Lal Jaggi and the resilience and innovation of the Punjabi refugees who migrated to Delhi after the partition of India in the year 1947 blending old-world flavours and closely guarded recipes with the most talented and creative team to create a best in class dining experience reminiscent of a bygone era, with due credit to his grandson Raghav Jaggi and Raghav's childhood friend, restaurateur Amit Bagga.

Customer Reviews & Testimonials

I had hoped for a good experience but was let down. I had to wait more than 30 min just to get the appetizers and another 40 min for the main course, the people sitting in the next table were leaving as they had to wait a long time. The taste was not what was expected. Tasteless and bland food. Only the chicken kebab was nice rest the platter and signature dishes were not good. And the price was extremely high for the quantity and quality of food they were providing.

I'm grateful that Daryaganj is conveniently located near my home, making it easy to enjoy Mughlai cuisine--whether through home delivery or dining at their Pacific Mall restaurant. The restaurant takes pride in being the inventors of Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani. While I don't particularly enjoy their original recipe Butter Chicken, I find the Daryaganj Chicken Curry more flavorful. Their Mutton Curry and Chicken Curry are absolutely finger-licking good. The Mutton Seekh Kebabs are succulent, and the Mutton Chop is equally impressive. The Chicken Kebab Platter offers a nice variety, including Chicken Seekh Kebab, Chicken Malai Tikka, and Chicken Tikka. Every dish is prepared with a blend of traditional North Indian spices and fresh herbs, adding depth to the flavors. Meals are always served with green mint chutney and vinegar onions, and wrapped up with a traditional saunf-mishri mouth freshener. However, I wasn't impressed with the mocktails --especially the Aam panna, which tasted artificial, like a powdered mix in water rather than being made from fresh raw mangoes. Their kulfi, much like the mocktails, didn't meet expectations. On the other hand, the restaurant's ambience is fantastic, with old Bollywood Hindi music playing in the background, well-thought-out lighting, and comfortable spacing. While the mocktails and kulfi were underwhelming, the kebabs and curries were outstanding. For those seeking authentic Mughlai flavors, Daryaganj is a great choice!

Being a part of popular restaurant chain, I had anticipated this Restaurant to be a good one, however I was highly disappointed. Whatever food we ordered, nothing was good. We had ordered one Hara Bhara Kebab, Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan and Tandoori Roti. Hara Bhara Kebab were one of the worst that I ever tasted. They tasted like they were half cooked and also had weird flavour. Butter Chicken wasn't upto the 'Daryaganj' name. It had a very strong Smokey Tandoori flavour which wasn't pleasant. Couldn't make out any other flavour in the gravy. I don't think I would be visiting here again...

The food was actually very good. Liked it more than that of Moti Mahal. The inventory platter was also good but a bit pricey. Recommended dishes- 1. The Original Butter Chicken 2. Malai Jhinga

A good experience with Mr. Sagar as he was professional and generous with his warm hospitality. Talking about the food, they have 2 types of butter chicken so please be clear while ordering. One they have is the Original Recipe and the other one is the Today's recipe. For a great tasting butter chicken, order the Today's Butterchicken Recipe which will not disappoint you; but if you want to try the simple and not too spicy, try the original recipe. The drink ordered was Daryaganj Tazagee which was a refreshing mint drink with a nice flavour of mint leaves and is water based. All in all, it was a good experience.

The restaurant has great interior design. The tables and seating complement each other beautifully. Photographs of Bollywood icons decorate the walls; this gives you something to look at while you're waiting for your meal and possibly tests your memory skills. The seating is very comfy, with no squeaks from the chairs or tables. The lighting is also fantastic and complements the entire theme of the interior design. The staff are kitted out well for the job. I noted on my visits that the uniforms were very clean. The staff seem adequately trained, and there are no complaints in that department, although there was an argument on the neighbouring table about too much garlic in the dish. I would commend the waiter for dealing with this awkward customer in a stern but respectful manner and offering a pleasing solution by providing a replacement dish. Service is good, and the waiting time for us was not too long. The quality of crockery, cutlery, and napkins is quite high. All in all, a great deal of effort has been put into the presentation side of things. The food, however, is an anti-climax. Once seated in such an environment, one does expect something special when it comes to the food. This expectation was unfulfilled, and we found the food to be very much run-of-the-mill. The portions are quite large, so if you are sharing, this is perfect. The bread was good, but the famous Dal Makhani didn't impress. The prices are high, probably due to the cost of decor and high rents.

Lovely Place! Had a fun time, must time with the family. Mr Abu, Mr Samir, Mr Sagar and Yash were truly hospitable and made sure the services are top notch. Don't forget to try the Dal Makhani. Truly a legacy!!

Having eaten out at Daryaganj multiple times in the past, we went to the Tagore garden restaurant anticipating the same Dal Makhni but were truly disappointed. The dal makhni was worse than a roadside dhaba, tasted more like a home cooked "kaali daal". The restaurant chain is known for its dal makhni. I am not sure what they are up to. Otherwise, the staff was very courteous, service was good, "sirka pyaaz" was given with open heart.
