Customer Reviews & Testimonials
British tourist new to India. Stayed the Sheraton and ate at Dakshin. First and foremost, the restaurant was not buzzing or busy when we visited. In fact it was quiet. The service started off a little strange. We are used to waiting staff explaining the menu, but were directed to a QR code link to a website menu which was difficult to review all the options. We were also not given a drinks menu until requested. We eventually managed to speak to the waiting staff who advised they had physical menus, and were presented with a beautiful ornate booklet. I am not sure why they are not leading with this! We also managed to get some advice on food options (because there is a lot of choice). We had masala fried prawns to start. These are really good and strongly recommended. Our mains was a mutton curry which has a light spice level and a very mild chicken curry which is similar to a chicken korma (my girlfriend cannot handle her spice). We enjoyed poppadoms to start with a range of condiment sauces too, which are complimentary. Our mains came with a side order of rice (there was too much for two people so you're good to share one amongst 4 people I reckon) and a side portion of paratha (2 pieces) which was so good I ordered another portion. We had glasses of Australian red wine which was nice too. Overall a good meal but not the same Indian hospitality we have experienced elsewhere (but maybe we went on a bad night). Sorry we usually get more photos than we did this time
Dakshin, the South Indian restaurant at Sheraton, offers an exquisite culinary experience with its vegetarian delicacies. The menu offered a range of options, catering to different tastes and preferences. Dakshin's dishes were true to their South Indian roots, with bold flavors and spices. The use of fresh ingredients was evident in every bite. I absolutely love their freshly made hot appams with aviyal and malabar paratha with chettinad masala. Also, their filter kaapi is a must try- rich, and aromatic coffee which is the perfect accompaniment to the meal.
Authentic south indian restaurant actually authentic. Folks might like or dislike it, nothing in between. Price high, unlimited thali, less food options. Nothing missed if you skip it.
The experience is phenomenal. As usual ITC food is brilliant. We had the thali and didn't go for an a la carte. Would suggest to go hungry as the thali has a lot to offer and is huge. There are several varieties of papad, achaar, chutney, the rassam is brilliant, the paniyaram is so soft and crispy at the same time, the Malabar paratha is absolutely yum as is the appam. All the vegetables are great, the potato, the sambhar, the stew, everything is worth repeating. Of course the filter coffee is great. I'm not a big fan of the dessert but I hear it's quite good too. Definitely would be happy to visit again.
Good Taste - Comfortable & Worth the Price Had a pleasant Lunch time with my family at DAKSHIN, The interior was spacious and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and attentive.Lunch had a decent variety, though I wish there were more options. Overall, a comfortable and budget-friendly. Would definitely consider coming back again with family.
Spicy shrimps were sweet . Food was not as before. 6 out of 10 I would grade. Very slow service. I would not repeat coming here now on though it used to be our regular place of visit since it's opened
With restraunt of this Grade (being part of famed Sheraton), the thing that drives you to it is, not just a singular item, but a collective experience of Food, Ambience, Culture, Service to name some. Unfortunately service was a BIG let down. To start with, even in OFF peak hour, we were not introduced about the entire variety of Menu and it was left upon us to dig that from service boy. Funny part ~ i realised that they have a physical menu too while billing. As a part of Thali, we had to ourself remind the person about the desert being part of it. On positive side - Their menu is quite extensive covering all the Major dishes from all our beloved Souther States. Taste is bit on blanded side(may be to cater multi - national customers).
The ambience of the restaurant is amazing. The food is delicious and if you are a fan of the South Indian food, it needs to be in your bucket list when you're exploring the foodie in yourself
