Customer Reviews & Testimonials
A place etched in the hearts of all Ponjekars. For those who grew up in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, this spot was (and still is) a go-to destination. Back then, dads would bring their sons here for a leisurely lunch and a tipple, creating memories that lasted a lifetime. I remember Moti, the man who ran this beloved establishment with warmth and care. Today, I like to think he's running Marietta's in heaven - God bless his soul. His legacy lives on through his sons, Eusebio, Steven, and Ben, who were the cool kids of their time. Time has moved on, but this place still calls to me. I make it a point to drop by, say hi to Steven--who now runs the place with his mother--and indulge in their signature crumb or cream chops, which still taste as nostalgic as they did decades ago. Panjim is a city like no other--perhaps reminiscent of the Bombay of yesteryears. Here, people still take the time to stop by, say hello, and share stories. There's a sense of community, a rare and enduring bonhomie, that stands resilient against the tide of modernization and the chaos of construction (I'll say no more). Sure, some may criticize this place for being a little rough around the edges. But let's be honest--Marietta's is a time capsule, and it wears that identity proudly. Yes, it could use a revamp, but its charm lies in its ability to transport you to a simpler time. As a child of the 80s, I cherish this place and all it represents.
Excellent place for some authentic goanese and Portuguese cuisines.. The sweet lime prepared by uncle Estavio alongwith fenny is one of the best ways to drink feni. This place is a good enough reason for visiting Panjim.
Lovely family run restaurant with Great food and service.
This place has the best simple drinks and fresh lime soda!! I recommend a brandy soda. Stevan is the most loving human being I've met this year I could listen to him share beautiful stories of his family and the restaurant for hours!!
A family run restaurant and bar, next to Geeta bakery in Panaji. This is a typical laid back place which serves authentic Goan cuisine. The menu is limited and they often run out of dishes. The clientele are mostly regulars with a spattering of tourists. There is a well stocked bar. The restroom is not up to standards. There is a takeaway service available and it is advisable to order one's meal in advance so as not to be disappointed. Parking is available street-side.
Come here if you really want to eat excellent Goan food and don't mind pink colored walls, old steel and sun mica benches and tables and locals discussing... Well whatever they think is important over a peg or two. But once you come be sure you'll return.
We used to go here years ago, when in college, and just later. A nice place serving homely Goan (Catholic) food. You'll get the kind of stuff your grandmum or elderly aunt would cook at home. I remember the owner of the place converting our bills into paisa. So Rs 10 (in those times) would become "one thousand" :-) It seemed like a lot, but really good value for money. Then and now. Don't expect great decor or settings. It's a functional place that offers good, tasty and nutritious non-veg Goan food.
Been coming here for last 30 years for this family run restaurant and it's consistently great Goan, Portuguese home food
