Customer Reviews & Testimonials
If you have a budget of around 2,000 per thali and enjoy mild, authentic Gujarati cuisine, this is a must-visit spot. The heritage ambience truly enhances the experience, making it ideal for those seeking a genuine taste of Gujarat in a memorable setting. The food is thoughtfully prepared, not overly spicy, and showcases the region's culinary traditions beautifully. Highly recommended for anyone looking to savor a classic Gujarati thali in an elegant, historic atmosphere.
Wonderful personalized attention by Mr. Mahendra Patel, and Sr. Steward Mr. Himmat Sing Rathod. If you're looking for authentic Gujarati taste, THIS IS THE PLACE. Forget the myth that Gujarati food is all about sweetness. Just come here and have great time with superb service.
Absolutely amazing place with a superb ambience! The service was top-notch -- everyone was extremely polite and welcoming. A special thanks to Santoshbhai, who truly made the experience exceptional. Highly recommended!
Luxury thali experience, they feed with love and the food tastes brilliant. A little expensive as it's premium. The restaurant itself is beautiful
The food was great. It had a great selection of local and seasonal vegetables. But more than food, we loved the homely feeling of the staff who fed us as if we are visiting their home. The ambience was bright and great. We even saw the staff playing with a toddler so that the parents and family could eat in peace. It was amazing. The place also houses a textile museum/shop on the lower floors.
"Extremely overpriced, authentic pure-vegetarian Gujarati thali, great food quality, quite refined and balanced dishes, polite and friendly staff, peaceful and relaxing, high taxes, and a great fine-dining experience." Food: The food they offer is pure-vegetarian Gujarati food. We chose their Limited Thali or Light Thali (this is also their lowest priced option). They also have two other options apart from the one we chose but they are both more expensive. Most of the dishes are quite refined and balanced. No dish is too oily, too spicy, etc. The depth of flavours is pretty good in some of the dishes. I particularly liked Undhiyu, it was a flavorful, nuanced vegetable curry. Went great with the small rotis/rotlas. Moong dal halwa was really well executed as well, had a good balance of ghee, sugar, and sweetness. It was quite nutty and satisfying. One of the pickles was great, it was sweet and delicious. I also enjoyed their Masoor dal sharbat/soup. I am not a big fan of their dal or the Gujarati dal in general as it is quite sweet in taste. Even the Gujarati Kadhi is sweet in taste. I really missed savoriness in the meal. I did not like the Paan at all. It was not balanced in my opinion, was a bit too bitter, and not that sweet or juicy at all. Service: Polite and courteous staff. Quite friendly and try their best to make sure you have a great day. Ambience: They have outdoor as well as indoor seating. It's a fine dining setting. It is quite relaxing and peaceful here. It is easy to calmly have a discussion with your loved ones and have your meal. Overall, quite a vintage setting that indicates heritage/legacy. Price: Extremely overpriced in my opinion. Considering that it is just pure-vegetarian food with no fancy vegetarian ingredients such as morel mushrooms or saffron either, it is quite steeply priced. It is priced at about 1200 Rs. at the time of writing this (for the limited thali). Taxes are quite high (GST being 18%) thereby making the prices more inflated. Eazydiner's discounts did help in reducing the bill. Overall, a great restaurant to try some authentic and refined Gujarati food but be prepared to burn a hole or two in your wallet.
The food, staff, atmosphere, hygiene and what not. Everything is more than amazing. Each item was perfectly cooked with a perfect blend of spices. Had there been more stars, I want to give. Loved the place!!
Famous Gujarati roof top restaurant run by The House of Mangaldas. Historic architecture with very well trained staff who care about hospitality. 3 set menus that one needs to choose from. Food is good, prepared well and unlimited with copious amount of ghee and butter. Mr. Bipin Rathava deserve a special shoutout for taking care of his guests.
