Food Review *Pros* 1. *Thatte Idli*: Exceptional, a must-try! 2. *Uttapam*: Good, flavorful and well-made. 3. *Dosa*: Average, lacked the wow factor. *Cons* 1. *Alu Masala*: Underwhelming, lacked spice and masala. 2. *Self-Service*: Unconventional and inconvenient, especially for Ahmedabad crowd. 3. *Chargeable Water*: Compulsory purchase of mineral water bottles is unacceptable. 4. *Dosa Size*: Smaller than expected. Recommendations 1. Improve Alu Masala recipe. 2. Consider traditional service on table. 3. Make water complimentary. Verdict Sambar Cafe's traditional ambiance and some standout dishes (Thatte Idli, Uttapam) are overshadowed by inconsistencies and inconvenient practices. Addressing these concerns can elevate the overall experience.

If you are planning for relaxed fast with Family, then this is surely not the place. You will have to run between food counter and your table. In name of self service they have relinquished their responsibility to provide service to the customers. Even the rates are on higher aise with no services to the customer. If you need extra chutney while eating then they will say you go and pick from the counter yourself. None of the staff will look at you, you have to keep your hand keep waving so that someone someone can see you. At last even tea coffee is also not served, I stood there for a while as he was making tea, I came back to my seat expecting he will serve, later that guy came to my table merely for saying you pick your tea coffee. It's unexpectedly Rude and simply unprofessional. From my side a BIG NO.

Loved the overall food . Had a dessert called jigar thanda and man I have never had something like this. Also, its a great family place

It is a gem! My friends kept recommending this place but I never happened to visit Sambhar Cafe ever before. I preferred table service to self-service, which is the case here. But, oh, how it was all worth it. The restaurant has hand painted drawings on the wall, representing the art of the state with dimmed lights. Although the place looks small from the outside, they have enough table to manage 40-50 people, or more. The interior is colourful and uplifting. We ordered - Filter Coffee Rava Masala Dosa Plain Dosa Thatte Idli Idli-Vada Platter Mixed Veg Uttapam Everything is was flavourful. Dosa was perfectly crispy. Idlis were melting in our mouth. I had asked for Thatte Idli without the masala so I only get ghee portion on it but I received it with no such alteration. Can't really complain since I loved this version entirely differently. As for the service, the service station displays the number mentioned on our bill when the food is ready. Pretty sure that's the concept everywhere I want to highlight the time of delivery, though. Our orders were prepared in minutes!

One of the best places for authentic South Indian cuisine! We've been coming here 3-4 times a month, and it never disappoints. The podi dosa is an absolute standout--flavorful and perfectly crisp. If you're a cheese lover, the podi cheese dosa is a must-try with its perfect blend of traditional flavors and cheesy goodness. The thatte idli is incredibly soft and fluffy, and you won't want to miss it. Their South Indian-style cold coffee is simply addictive, with a unique taste that pairs perfectly with any meal. We also love the fresh fruit juices, which are always refreshing and taste just right. Hygiene is consistently maintained, and the cleanliness of the space adds to the pleasant dining experience. Good south indian food at affordable rate in nice location but service is not upto the mark.

The highlight was cold coffee- The balance of strong coffee with creamy milk was just perfect, and the hint of sweetness made it incredibly refreshing. Served chilled over ice, it was the ideal pick-me-up on a warm day.
