Cecil Restaurant

The food is a mix of various cuisines: Indian (mostly North Indian, with the occasional Himachali dish too, like sidu), Western (sandwiches, pastas, risottos and so on), and some perennial East Asian favourites. We had dinner here one day and tried the chicken noodle soup (East Asian style), the chicken pepper steak, and a fish and chips from the 'Scooby' menu, for children, for our daughter. All were pretty good. Since we were staying at the Cecil, our room tariff included a buffet breakfast at the Restaurant. While the items/sections on the buffet are the usual--cereals, fruit, cheeses and cold cuts, Western breakfast items, dosas/idlis/etc, parathas, and so on--the quality of pretty much everything on the buffet is excellent. Also, in a pleasant change from the usual, the eggs made to order don't just include the more predictable omelettes and scrambles, but also more uncommon (but delicious) egg dishes, such as akuri, shakshouka, and Turkish-style eggs.

What I liked most is the customer service and how the chef explained about the dishes and gave some recommendations do try and the presentation of the dishes.. the food was tasty ... the place is super expensive , no doubts about it . Once a while to pamper yourself , nothing wrong in it

Staff is unprofessional and money is definitely more important than customers. They canceled our confirmed booking because they received some group booking later on.

Beautiful and historical surroundings with wonderful views over the mountains. Such a wonderful place to have figure licking food. We ordered soup and some starters which was excellent. The service was good and all ages were well catered for.

The food in this restaurant was superb. The choice and flavors were amazing. The staff were very helpful in suggesting local dishes and altering things to suit our whims. Will like to visit this place again.

So like my every other ob experience, they always seem to be consistent and acing at the hospitality section ..no doubt. But what disappointed me was the food here. It was below avg esp for a star hotel like ob which surprised me because all our experiences with food have been well beyond wonderful with other OB destinations. ( u must try sukhvilas). I often order a Margherita pizza from places new to me as I consider it to be a litmus test. And Cecil failed miserably. So if you are looking for a very very mediocre food wrapped up with great hospitality ..go for it! Pricing is obviously on the higher side but then its like every other star hotel. I would not book here again unless the food is improved.

Awesome Beautiful Historical All Facilities available Good diet with all available stuff Beautiful Rooms Great Service Very near from Railway station Shimla Good staff with helpful nature. Parking is just few feet away from the hotel. If you are foreigners that I recommend this hotel to you since each and every facilities are available here. Must visit and stay at this historical hotel.

We went for buffet dinner but the quality and selection of food was far from any 4 star standard, forget 5 star. Though staff was very polite and when wthey asked us whether we enjoyed the food during bill payment we did gave a written feedback , staff was really very nice and felt apology but we were done with dinner
