Customer Reviews & Testimonials
The food is good. Service is very quick. Lacks a bit of the maintenance but other than that it's serving amazing food
Our recent visit to this restaurant was quite disappointing. We ordered Butter Masala Dosa, Open Butter Masala Dosa, Puri, Chow Chow Bath, Pulav, and Plain Dosa. Out of all these, only the Puri was good. The Plain Dosa was shockingly small--finished in just 4-5 bites, which didn't feel worth it at all. Hygiene was also a major issue, with cockroaches roaming around. The lack of hygiene was concerning, with cockroaches visible around the dining area and an open sauce bottle with visible fungus. The Pulav had zero taste and no salt, and when we asked to parcel the leftovers to give to the needy, they refused and threw it in the dustbin, leading to unnecessary food waste. Overall, we wouldn't recommend this place. If you do go, the Puri is the only thing worth trying. It's otherwise a waste of money for both quality and quantity. This place is definitely not recommended if you want to enjoy quality food and a clean environment. If you do go, the Puri is the only item we'd suggest. Save your time and money and look elsewhere for a better experience. (Don't be fooled by the crowd--this restaurant was a big letdown.)
The restaurant had a decent ambiance, and the staff was polite. The food was okay--some dishes were tasty, but others felt a bit bland and lacked seasoning. The portion sizes were fair for the price, but the service was slower than expected, even though it wasn't very crowded. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but there's definitely room for improvement. I might give it another try in the future to see if things have improved.
The cooks have no respect towards customers at all. They call you for your order like they are part of some rowdy gang. Don't even date order the watermelon and apple juice. When they cut the watermelon they not only had three audacity to use all of the light green bits of the watermelon but also use dark green bits. They used a strainer but the watermelon juice ended up being thicker than any thick shaker I've ever had with the worst taste possible.
This well-established restaurant has been a local favorite for over several years, and for good reason. Here's a breakdown of its pros and cons, based on online reviews and my own research: Pros: South Indian Delights: Food Palace excels in traditional South Indian fare. Dosas, idlis, vadas, and pongal come steaming hot and bursting with flavor. The chutneys and sambar are a perfect complement, offering tangy and spicy notes. Vegetarian Paradise: Veg lovers rejoice! Food Palace caters to a vegetarian clientele, offering a wide variety of dishes without compromising on taste or satisfaction. Even non-vegetarians will find plenty to tempt their palates. Affordable Prices: Food Palace is known for its pocket-friendly menu. You can enjoy a hearty meal for under Rs. 200, making it a great option for budget-conscious travelers and locals alike. Spacious and Family-Friendly: The restaurant boasts a spacious and clean dining area, ideal for families with children. Comfortable seating and ample space ensure a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Friendly Service: Reviews consistently praise the staff at Food Palace for their warm and welcoming attitude. They are attentive to your needs and happy to recommend dishes based on your preferences. Cons: Waiting Time: During peak hours, especially on weekends, you might encounter a wait to get a table. This can be a minor inconvenience, but the delicious food makes it worth it for most diners. Limited Parking: On-site parking is limited, so finding a spot during peak hours might require patience. However, street parking is usually available nearby. Simple Ambiance: Food Palace focuses on the food, so the ambiance is relatively simple and casual. Don't expect fancy decor or a trendy atmosphere, but rather a comfortable and no-fuss dining experience. Overall: Food Palace on Rathnagiri Road is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for authentic South Indian cuisine at affordable prices. Its friendly service, spacious setting, and delicious vegetarian options make it a great option for families, budget travelers, and locals alike. While you might encounter a wait during peak hours, the tasty food and warm atmosphere make it well worth the wait.
South Indian dishes are good in this place like Meals, Bisibelabath - they have added lot of vegetables in bisibelabath, Dosa etc. Please avoid Chinese dishes like Fried rice, Manjurian or any other gravy here. Food prices are kind of ok. Bisibelabath is a must try in this hotel
Food Palace is a place which has filled my tummy on Sunday mornings during my childhood.. We used to order breakfast from here. Visiting this place after soo long time felt really great!! Had ordered Idly, vada which was accompanied by Samber and Chutney. Idly was so smooth, Vada was crispy, hot and yummy! Idly and Vada along with Samber and Chutney was amazing!!! Had ordered Filter Coffee and Am sure it's one of the best coffee that's available out there! Parking space is available. Service was great. We can visit with friends and family.
Food served was way below standard taste and quality. The Chapati provided in meal was stale. The lemon soda was just bitter water
