Excellent Benne Dose Place that I went to after trying to see Shantappa benne dose place was closed. Apparently they are part of the original family which started the benne dose culture. The dosas were awesome, crispy and dripping with butter. Aroma of the wood fired stove and the benne melting makes waiting a challenge as one salivates like Pavlov's dog. Apparently they serve red and white chutney (basically red chillies and green chillies usage) on alternate days. I got the red. I am sure the debate on which tastes better is like having a comparison of a merlot and cabarnet sauvignon. so will not go into it. Small place, be ready to wait a bit, clean, hygenic, with awesome dosas worth the wait.

Any given day, I would rate this place above the Guru Kottureshwara hotel and Old Sagar hotel. I like the other two places as well. They use white butter and the dosaes taste a little better than the other two famous places for the crepes in the town. They have been here for decades and if I am not wrong, they belong to the very clan that pioneered the benne dosae culture, though there are 2-3 strong contenders from the same claim. These guys serve red and white chutney on alternate days. I believe that the 20rs extra you shell out for their dosaes is worth it for the white butter and better chutney. The place is too small and at times, you might have to wait to get a seat or eat standing. But who complains? The taste and the quality of the food they serve makes up for the lack of ambience.

If you are in Davengere you must try this place. Davengere is known for its Benne Dosa which means Dosa made with lot of butter. Davengere has got many small eatery places which serves Benne dosa but, this place is exceptional among all of it. We never miss an opportunity to stop by while we are on Pune - Bangalore highway road. Though this outlet is inside the city we do make an effort to visit this place. Challenge we mostly face is they are open only for limited hours. It's properly mapped over google maps. This place is pretty small, but they have got good quality food and the place is quite cleanly maintained. The preparation of dosa is very unique here, they have those olden days stove, which uses coconut shell and wooden logs to heat up the stove. My favourite place for Davangere benne dose in DAVANAGERE city. This dose shop is in the name of the owner Ravi and they are in this business from generations. Usually there will be a lot of crowd in the morning for breakfast and in weekends it will be much more and have to wait atleast for 30 mins. Owner is bit rude and not at all customer friendly, just for the dose taste you have to ber him. Doses are prepared using soude and there benne will be fresh which is used for preparation. Benne dose, Khali dose are the more famous and widely ordered. Few seatings is available but with no fresh air, it's better to stand outside and enjoy bisi dose.

One of the best dosa, searched this place from Google reviews and got there. Place gets crowded at times. Must try if u visit Davangere. There is very limited space / sitting . Better to eat the dosa standing and looking at how he makes them . and for sure , the way it's made , will make u order one more.

Benne Dose, Khali Dose are okay, nothing special compared to other places. Rude and arrogant owner and staff. They do not respect their paying customers and couldn't care less. This is reason enough to stay away from this place. There are other options in Davanagere like Guru Kottureshwara, Sagar, Vasantha.

Best benne dosa in davangere, red chutney is worth trying and there is usually a wait of about 5-10mins here.
