Sadly Disappointed by a Once-Loved Ideal Ice-cream Cafe My recent visit to Ideal Ice-cream Cafe was a far cry from the enjoyable experiences I remember from my childhood. It's disheartening to see such a decline in quality. I ordered a fruit salad and a royal faluda, among other things. The fruit salad was particularly concerning, as the banana was clearly not fresh and tasted expired. When I raised this issue, the staff's response that the banana was "like that" was dismissive and frankly, unacceptable. Basic food freshness should be a priority. The royal faluda also failed to impress, suffering from an excessive amount of rose milk and sugar, making it overly sweet and unbalanced. Adding to the disappointment was the complete lack of a dedicated toilet facility within the cafe itself. Customers are directed to use a building toilet located on the first floor, which is inconvenient for a two-story establishment and raises serious hygiene concerns. As someone who has patronized Ideal Ice-cream Cafe since childhood, it's deeply disappointing to witness this decline in both food quality and basic customer amenities. I sincerely hope the management takes note of these issues and takes immediate steps to restore the standards that their loyal customers once appreciated. Based on this recent experience, I cannot recommend Ideal Ice-cream Cafe in its current state.

Visited the iconic Ideal Cafe in Mangalore, a place rooted in the city's food history. Founded by S. Prabhakar Kamath--affectionately known as Pabba Maam--it all began in 1975 with homemade ice cream experiments that led to the legendary Ideal Ice Cream and the invention of Gadbad! The cafe near Sharavu Temple, opened in 2011, extends that legacy with a full snack and meal menu.We tried chole batura, Mysore masala dosa, neer dosa with green paneer ghee roast, veg cutlet, coffee, and of course, the famous Gadbad. Loved the chole batura, dosa, and veg cutlet! Neer dosa was good, but the ghee roast was too spicy and didn't hit the mark. Overall, a decent one-time experience--though a bit on the expensive side.Worth visiting once to soak in the legacy and try the classics!

Ideals have been there for longer than I ever knew. The ice creams are the best here. And the food is good. I am dead in love with the veg cutlet you get here and that is my best dish and I would have it all the time. The chutney which comes with it is to die for. Overall a really good experience and food.

Good old place ,went for breakfast, you have order first and then go take a table. Food is served in 15 to 20 min. Neerdosa and paneer ghee roast was good butter dosa was ok not great, coffee was surprisingly good. Tiramisu was next level

Brunch decision was made and we landed here at Ideal Cafe to check food options. We ordered their pocket friendly and reasonable combos such as: 1) North Indian Combo - consisting of Channa Batura, Pulav, Samosa with Lassi 2) Sandwich Combo - Burger, half spicy corn, french fries with Water melon Juice Both these combos were very filling and having great taste. But we couldn't leave the place without checking their signature icecreams, so we feasted on Parfait and Special Gadbad making it the best one could ask for. Perfect in every way and a real icecream lover's paradise

I'm highly disappointed with the service. The staff are lethargic, no quick service, customers are taken for granted attitude. Dull and old fixtures. Customers have to pay first and then wait for food which makes the guests in a hurry to select the menu at the cash counter. Because of the above bad experience I felt the taste, quality and quantity are also not satisfactory. I lost interest in visiting again.

Ideal Cafe in Mangalore is a must-visit for anyone who loves vegetarian food and iconic desserts. It's well-known for serving some of the best veg dishes in the city, with dosas and other South Indian specialties being standout options. However, the real star of the menu is its legendary ice cream sundaes, especially the famous "Gadbad," a delightful mix of ice cream, fruits, and jelly. While it can get busy and seating might take a while, the flavors and experience make it absolutely worth it. Perfect spot for families and dessert lovers!

Trust me, it's worth visiting Mangaluru just to have food and Icecream from ideal cafe. It's that good and their world famous Gudbud icecream is just amazing.
