Royal Darbar Restaurant

Visited Royal Durbar after a span of two decades. Flavour of the Biryani, portions and taste have remained unchanged. We also ordered veg and chicken starters which were cooked to perfection. However, there is wear and tear of the furniture and other areas which are noticeable. Great biryani as always at Royal durbar!

This restaurant has been around for a very long time and is one of the few restaurants that has been consistently providing great food all this time. The restaurant is below ground level but isn't difficult to locate. There isn't a dedicated parking space, so you'll have to manage parking on the side of the road and you might not have enough space during peak hours. Coming to the food, their chicken biriyani and egg biriyani are great. The meat in the chicken biriyani something can get very chewy which isn't great. Get extra biriyani masala, it adds to the flavour. Their paya soup is great as always. All their kebabs are great. They cook their meat to near perfection almost always.

Kara Chicken was tasty: perfectly spiced and well cooked. Angara chicken, which seemed like a recommended dish, was unavailable. Biriyani was pretty average. The taste was bit bland with tinge of sweetness; Mughlai Biriyani is generally that way, but the taste fell short of expectations. The chicken pieces in Biriyani were bit too chewy. Service was decent and quick. We visited around 8:30 and it was moderately crowded. With Kara Chicken Full, 2 and half Chicken Biriyani, Fresh Lime Soda, the bill was around 1200, which makes it moderately priced. Parking to be done on the roadside, so it might be tough to find a car parking spot during lunch times. Credit card, UPI payments accepted.

Had an excellent dinner here. Started off with the Paya soup which was quite good. The paya was soft and well cooked and the soup tasted nice and hot. For starters we had the Murg Angara kabab. The kabab was excellent but a little spicy. For main course we had the murg rahara and naan. Finally finished off with caramel custard for dessert. All items were excellent. Price was quite reasonable and the waiting staff were very nice. Ambience was quite good. Overall a great place for a family dinner. Only negative about this place is that it has no vehicle parking facility.

I usually love their food and that's why i am giving them a solid 3/5 but when I went there recently to get a takeaway for one of my frnds who was sick i came across hair in my mutton paya soup. It was disgusting. I got her that because that's what i usually have when I'm sick, but this made her more sick and i hope you take action against this and make sire it doesn't happen anymore.

This place is worth all the hype in Mangalore. Not one area I can nitpick about it. Food is good, service is great, staff is excellent . They know their non-vegetarian food and their spices very well. The flavours they come up with is something unique that you will remember forever and will definitely crave to come back. Recommended

Can't go wrong with the chicken angara kebab. We found the chicken moghlai to be a bit salty. The moghlai naan was the standout in the bread basket. Biryani is pretty good, but not the best I have eaten. Pineapple delight is excellent - don't miss out on it! Good ambience and great service. Very child friendly

We ordered egg biryani, kebab and paya soup. The paya soup was excellent as always. This can't be compared with the paya that we get in delhi or Lucknow. However, it has a taste of its own and as a dish I found it good. The kebab was good, the chicken was soft and well spiced. The egg biryani was good, it has a light sweet undertone to it. Always ask for extra masala. I had tried their mutton biryani here before which was decent. Overall it was a good experience.
