Customer Reviews & Testimonials
Thalassery Hotel near Gundlupet is one of those highway-side eateries that catches your eye with its spacious setting and warm ambience. Located along a busy travel route connecting Kerala and Karnataka, it's a common stop for travelers heading toward Wayanad, Bandipur, or Mysuru. I recently visited the place during a road trip, and here's my take on the experience. The ambience is definitely one of the strong points of the hotel. The dining area is spacious, with plenty of seating available both inside and outside. The natural lighting, clean layout, and organized setup give the place a refreshing feel, especially when you're taking a break after a long drive. Despite being busy with customers, the hotel didn't feel cramped or chaotic. The flow of people was well-managed, and the overall atmosphere remained calm and comfortable. However, when it comes to the food, it was quite average. I tried a few of their Kerala-style dishes, and while they were decently presented, the flavors didn't really stand out. It felt more like a safe, functional meal rather than something memorable. For a place named after Thalassery--famous for its iconic biryani and rich cuisine--I had slightly higher expectations. Still, it serves its purpose for hungry travelers who want a quick and filling bite. The service is an area that clearly needs improvement. Though the staff were not unfriendly, they seemed a bit disorganized, especially when the tables were filling up fast. There were delays in taking orders and bringing the food, and follow-up requests like extra water or side dishes took longer than expected. With a few updates in their service system--like better coordination, faster order processing, and more attentive staff--they could significantly enhance the customer experience. That said, the hotel has a lot of potential. Its strategic location on a busy interstate route, clean and attractive ambience, and large space for parking and dining already put it ahead of many roadside eateries. If they can upgrade their service standards and put more attention into their food quality--especially keeping up with the "Thalassery" name--they could easily become a go-to spot for travelers. In summary, Thalassery Hotel near Gundlupet is a good pit stop with plenty of room to sit, relax, and enjoy a break on the road. While the food is just okay and the service could use a boost, the spacious setup and soothing ambience make it worth a visit. With a few improvements, it has all the makings of a standout highway restaurant.
It is a common stop for long-route buses. The atmosphere is quite good, with a clean and spacious seating area, making it a comfortable place for travelers to take a break. The service was quick, which is important for those on a journey. However, the food quality needs improvement. While the dishes had an authentic Kerala touch, some items lacked freshness and proper seasoning. The flavors were not as rich as expected, and certain dishes felt a bit bland. Given the number of travelers stopping here, maintaining consistent quality should be a priority. Overall, it's a decent place for a quick meal, but if they focus on enhancing food quality, it could become a much better dining experience.
The hotel is not good. The name Thalassery Style(Name sake) is just a lie or joke. Why do all Kerala State buses stop here so that the driver and conductor can eat free food? Or is it for commission? Is this a known fraud by the Kerala RTC management? The food is of no quality. The Kerala RTC staff's decision to halt the bus and provide food to the passengers is an act of betrayal and injustice to them. The passengers have no choice. There is no other good hotel near this crappy hotel, so the passengers have no other option. A hotel named after Thalassery was built to curse the people of Thalassery.
It was a pleasant experience. Food was good. Waited a long time in this route for a restaurant. They provided good kerala style dishes with good quantity. The wait time was less because we came at a time where there were not much people. Ksrtc buses stop here frequently for dinner.
Waited for half hour for some porotta and chicken gravy, they're selling fake water bottle, a clone coppy of Bislery. Service guys are worst. Price are also at higher side
The worst it could get. How could Kerala RTC allow such horrible places to be designated rest areas????? How could KSRTC do such an inhuman thing to humanity????? Or is it all paid all to the top? Why why why KSRTC are you intending to destroy passenger health? Do the drivers get different food? Is it free of the drivers? Do drivers have health issues after consuming the so called food from this hotel? So sad that fellow humans and hell bound to make a quick profit and destroy the rest. KSRTC change listen see... Also sad the scania drivers care a dime about the road conditions and just plant their foot on the accelerator to ensure they fly the wingless Vehicle. Horror show all the way... Bad driving then add horrible food . All of the above is destructively lethal. All this in % educated and literate "Gods own kountry" . Over the years the restaurant stays the same but the staff and I guess the owners change to loot and feed the KSRTC staff. Shame on everyone involved in ensuring that passengers have no say in selecting a safe hygienic and nutritious place to eat. Wonder why there is no "right to good food?" I guess we have to do a harthal for that too..... Which political outfit will support "right to good food" .. "right to clean toilets".. " right to be healthy".... Etc etc! I do hope the transport minister gets a chance to enjoy the in house dining @ this hotel which I doubt will ever happen. Surprisingly this restaurant morphes its name regularly. Now it's not Thalassery Hotel, it's coffee... Something. Soon a new name and new staff and new owners will appear. I guess this is so that no passengers blame the hotel or it's ever changing names or so called owners.
A good place for those who travel from sby to mysore. Food quality is average. Enough space for parking. Also with clean washrooms.
The Best Kerala hotel on the way to Bangalore in Gundalpet.Descent food with normal rate. Usually, all the Kerala RTC buses used to stop here for food. their Karnataka Tea is awesome. Ghee Roast and idli Sambar and chutney are my favorites.
