Customer Reviews & Testimonials

Food Soldier

First things first- the ambience, the feel, the interiors are all outstanding- all representing a Naalukettu and the tharavadu look. What purg ed my enthusiasm was the food:- Horrible would be the only word which comes to my mind and I am being very kind. Porottas they gave were frozen, Prawns were small like snails and the prawns roast too sour and spicy, appams were dropde ad cold, duck curry was taken out from freezer, reheated and served- it had already turned sour. Whoever the cook there is, he needs a boot for sure. Service is with a smile.

Great ambiance and food was not bad but service was pathetic. People were shouting at the staff on every table for the huge delay in service. Owners better take notice to adequately staff the place and improve their morale.

I visited this place with friends and had a very bad experience. We ordered meals, Chicken 65, Duck Mappas, and Akathalam Prawns Curry. When we asked about the best prawns dish on the menu, the waiter recommended the Akathalam Prawns Curry, so we decided to try it. First of all, the food was served incorrectly; we were given fish curry instead of prawns. They admitted it was a mistake and said they would serve the prawns curry, which was understandable. However, the curry was served after a long delay, and we had almost finished our lunch by the time it arrived. Even worse, the curry was a big disappointment. It had an overwhelmingly sour taste with no balance, and there were no other flavors in the curry except the sourness. This was the worst mango curry I've ever had. Additionally, the prawns were very rubbery and difficult to chew. Since we were a group of 9, everyone took a prawn, but we had to spit it out. We informed the staff, and they called the chef, who behaved arrogantly and denied our concerns. The reason there was only one prawn left in the curry was that everyone had taken one to taste, not because it was good. To make matters worse, we found a fly in the sambar that came with the meals. When we brought this to the staff's attention, they said it might have come from elsewhere, which was not a satisfactory response. I've eaten at many famous restaurants, and this was one of the worst experiences both in terms of taste and the staff's response. Very disappointed.

Sorry, I am forced to change my review written below as I continue to spend more time here at the hotel, the attitude and the inflexibility of the staff are getting exhibited. I asked for a coffee in the lobby while taking a meeting and i was told that i need to go and sit in the lobby to drink a coffee. Coffee couldn't be served here. While I am in the lobby attending the meeting, the cleaning guy made sure that he cleaned the floor where i was sitting and cleaned it very effectively, to the extend that he kept hitting the chair i was sitting and kept disturbing. I get a feeling that the hotel in general doesnt welcome people sitting in the lobby. So unfortunately, I am changing the rating for the level of service to 3. Amazing food and ambience for a peaceful lunch or tea..Highly recommend the place. Great customer service and all the staff were friendly and cooperative. One minor thing but was important for me was that they couldnt reduce the volume of the music in the lobby and i had to take a couple of meetings while being there. They didnt offer any other alternative other than me walking out to the backyard and sitting on one of the benches. However, the backyard is beautiful and so that was not a big probelm.

Absolutely delicious food cooked in a very homestyle way. Great choices of dishes on the menu with all the classic Kerala dishes. Highly recommend the chicken curry with a freshly cooked wheat paratha, superb flavours and cooked perfectly. Also grab a nice filter coffee to finish it all with. The restaurant itself is a really nice place to eat, very open and spacious with old traditional style architecture and furnishings. The staff and service are very good, friendly and efficient.

Visited with high enthusiasm upon reviews and ratings, but it was not up to my expectations. Tried fish curry meals. It was average and not that tasty like mid Travancore preparation. I was in short of time and couldn't try other dishes. Designed in old traditional nalukettu house (courtyard inside house) style of Kerala with ample parking space. I'll visit once again with enough time to spend before making a conclusion.

Excellent Food and 1-hour Waiting Time If you have time to spare to get some good food and enjoy good ambience, this restaurant by the National Highway 66 is a good choice. Built like traditional ways, it's a pleasure for sight upon arrival and the ambience inside. The main negative point here is the waiting time. Was able to learn that there's only a central kitchen with not enough capacity to serve the restaurant. We had a one-hour waiting time after ordering. Saw people leaving without getting food too. But, let's get to the food. Food was so delicious. We had Neymeen curry (very tasty, liked by all), 11th mile chicken fry (another great dish), some good hot porottas, chicken biryani (was decent, good flavour) and noodles. Food was tasty and I would say was worth most of the waiting time. Food items are a bit costly. Above average prices. There's a huge parking space. Took a stroll around there, which is nice. Easy access by just the NH side. So if you want spent some time with your loved ones, have some chats and maybe take a stroll around the property and get some good food, do visit the Travancore restaurant. But yes, be mindful of the waiting time.
