Customer Reviews & Testimonials
I visited Zaatar last month with my family, and overall, we had a good dining experience. We started with the Tabal Kebab, which unfortunately was too salty for our liking, and didn't quite meet our expectations. For the main courses, we ordered the Laham Zerpian Beef and Mandi Alfahm. The Mandi Alfahm was delicious, featuring flavorful rice and perfectly cooked chicken that was tender with just the right amount of spices. The Laham Zerpian Beef was equally enjoyable, with a unique, flavorful rice and soft, meaty beef. The beef, in particular, was fantastic, though the portion size was a bit smaller than expected. For drinks, we had Mint Lime, Pineapple Lime, Mint Lime Soda, and Special Lime. All the drinks were refreshing and enjoyable, but the Special Lime stood out as my favorite. It had a unique mix of pomegranate and grapes, which added a delightful and refreshing touch to the meal. The Mint Lime Soda was also particularly enjoyable, with a great fizz that made it soothing and light. There was a slight issue with the billing as the staff had forgotten to charge us for the Tabal Kebab. When I brought this up to the staff, along with my concern about the saltiness, they kindly waived the charge and offered the Tabal Kebab as a complimentary item, which I appreciated. Overall, our experience at Zaatar was good. The food, especially the main courses and drinks, were enjoyable. The only downside was the Tabal Kebab, but the staff's response was admirable.
On my recent visit, I tried alfaham chicken Mandhi and Russian salad. The mandhi was delicious and chicken up to the spot. They provided additional rice free of cost. However, there were a few letdowns. The usual tomato chutney, which typically completes a mandi meal, was unavailable. Instead , we were given sause and garlic dip, which didn't quite make up for it. The Russian salad too didn't meet the expectations. The ambience was good and staff were polite and professional. Overall: Worth visiting for the mandi, but there's room for improvement in sides.
Visited Zaatar recently. The food was overall decent. The Waves of Zaatar platter was the standout, and the watermelon juice served alongside was refreshing and well-made. The Infused Chicken had flavour, but it didn't sink in well enough, leaving the inside a bit bland. The kids had noodles, which were surprisingly excellent -- well-prepared and enjoyed thoroughly. Unfortunately, we didn't have space left to try the kunafa. Service was quick, and the ambience was lively. Parking is limited, with just a few slots in front. While there's an able security guard managing traffic, he could clearly use more manpower, especially during peak times. A major downside was the presence of too many houseflies, which affected the hygiene and dining experience. Would have rated it 4 stars, but dropping to 3 due to the cleanliness issue.
We visited Zatar and ordered the Royal Platter -- absolutely amazing! The flavors were rich, the portion was generous, and everything was cooked to perfection. Great ambiance and friendly service too. Highly recommend for anyone craving delicious Middle Eastern food.
My wife and I recently dined at ZAATAR in Palarivattom, Kochi, and sadly, the experience didn't live up to the expectations set by the restaurant's premium branding and pricing. We ordered the Alfam Platter, which came with rice, five kuboos, and a few varieties of Alfam quarter pieces. It also included a glass of watermelon juice, which I must say was the only item I genuinely enjoyed. We also ordered four additional porottas and ended the meal with a coconut pudding for dessert. While the architecture and exterior ambiance of the restaurant are appealing, the overall dining experience fell flat. The food lacked flavor and freshness. The kuboos were served cold, dry, and completely tasteless, clearly straight from a pre-packaged packet with no effort to reheat or toast. It was honestly hard to eat and felt like an afterthought on the platter. To make things worse, despite the restaurant being fully air-conditioned, we were surrounded by flies at our table. It's extremely unhygienic and uncomfortable to be evading flies while trying to enjoy a meal--especially in a restaurant that presents itself as premium. I even had to ask for extra straws because the flies kept landing on the one I was using. It really disrupted the whole experience and made us feel like basic cleanliness and atmosphere were not prioritized. A final disappointment came with the dessert. We served the coconut pudding in a plastic container, which felt completely out of place in a dine-in setting. It gave off a cheap, pre-packaged vibe--like it was just picked up from a second vendor or local store and served without effort. For a restaurant like this, I expected a dessert to be served in proper glassware, with some presentation at the very least. It took away from the dining feel and made it seem like a cut corner. Overall, the pricing does not match the quality of food or service. Either the restaurant needs to significantly improve its hygiene, food preparation, and presentation or reconsider its price point. Right now, it feels like customers are paying for ambiance alone--and even that was disrupted by basic cleanliness issues. It's definitely not an experience I'd recommend unless improvements are made.
Not bad , they have to maintain consistency in keeping quality of the food . Humoose we received with platter was not that great. Infused chicken is must try especially that tangy cheesey one . Cheese Kunafa is well made .
Had a nice experience. We have tried Alfaham mandi and honey-glazed Alfaham. I have one suggestion: Need to provide a big spoon to serve mandhi rice. Mayonnaise and the side dishes are too good. The flavour of rice is very authentic.
We recently visited Zaatar restaurant in Kochi for dinner. The experience was quite nice, and the restaurant was almost full. We ordered fish fingers as a starter, which came with five pieces. For the main course, we had appam and mutton stew. The mutton stew was served in a generous portion--enough for two people to share. Zaatar is known for its Middle Eastern dishes. There was no delay in serving the food, and the customer service was good. The restaurant also offers free parking. Overall rating: 4/5.
