Manthoppu Family Restaurant

Recently, we had lunch at 'Manthoppu,' which is close to our home. After seeing recent Instagram reviews, we decided to give it a try, but the food was extremely disappointing. Typically, toddy shop dishes are known for their spiciness, but here, the moru curry, beef, pork, chicken, and even fish curry lacked flavor. The photos I attached with this review show the leftovers--not because we don't value food, but because we simply couldn't eat it. Those glowing reviews on social media seem fake; perhaps the reviewers have never experienced truly tasty food. I always aim to give honest reviews so people aren't misled or disappointed. In the end, we regretted not eating the food prepared by my mother--it would have been far better than spoiling our taste buds here.

The food was just below average, service and ambiance was ok We ordered fish meals but there were no fish curry, that we had to order separately.

This is my personal experience. You may find it different. This is a good Shappu restaurant where family can also enjoy a bottle of toddy along with a meal. I had lunch.Squid was good. Pidi and chicken curry good. Meals were also equally good. Bit congested space inside. It was crowded when we went there.

Best place in and around Nellikuzhi for good food. Actually there aren't any other good restaurants nearby especially with washrooms. Tasty Veg and Non-Veg food. Has live food counter too. Parking available in front of the restaurant. Food is priced quite reasonably. Recommended strongly.

Need shap food and toddy? Go there. Their food and items are good but not the toddy. It seems mixed with some powder. family rooms are there so families can go and eat with privacy. Rates are moderate.

Disappointing Experience with a Few Positives My recent visit to this restaurant was, unfortunately, quite disappointing. From the moment I walked in, I noticed the atmosphere felt unpleasant, with a lingering smell that didn't set a great tone for the meal. Hygiene standards appeared low, which, combined with the understaffed service, made the experience feel even less welcoming. The food itself was generally tasteless, lacking in flavor, and didn't live up to expectations. Although the beef fry was the one redeeming dish, its quality seemed questionable given the overall poor atmosphere and condition of the kitchen and service area. Adding to the discomfort, no water was served at the table, and the restaurant didn't even provide a printed bill, which felt unprofessional. One significant drawback was the lack of basic facilities--there was no ladies' toilet, which is an essential amenity for any dining establishment. In summary, while the beef fry was enjoyable, the unsanitary conditions, poor service, tasteless food, and lack of basic facilities overshadowed this one positive. I wouldn't recommend this place for a comfortable or satisfying dining experience.

Nice place to chill with friends and families. We ordered pork, duck, beef, crab, Kappa and 4 bottles of toddy. All tasted good. Not as spicy as it seems. Nice ambience. They have an individual section for privacy.

The food was not up to the mark. Non-Veg dishes were tasteless disasters. There is parking space and adequate seating but it's mostly deserted due to poor food. The hotel appears to have switched owners, because the quality doesn't match the older reviews. Chemmen roast was just boiled Prawns dipped in Chilli water. Beef fry tasted strongly of greasy oil. Rice and side dishes were bland. The only ok item was the fresh lime.
