Dakshin - The Veg

This is an average vegetarian restaurant located in the heart of Calicut city. The food quality was just okay, and I found the ambiance quite disappointing. The setup includes two floors: the ground floor is a self-service area, while the second floor has both non-AC and AC dining options. However, the hygiene standards, especially in the toilet and washing area, were not up to the mark, which was a letdown.

Very poor hygiene. I saw the guy cleaning the table, used the same cloth to wipe off food from the unused steel glass on top of the table. Food is of poor quality. I ordered kabuli paneer which cost 200 rupees. It had 4 small paneer piece and the rest was chana. Please avoid this restaurant

We are vegetarians on Thursdays and Saturdays. So any of these days, we chose to have vegetarian food from there, when we visit the city. You have both options available here - self service and served by suppliers. We always chose the second option. When we opt to have dinner, we use the air conditioned room on the first floor. The AC room supply is not available for breakfast. The quality of the food is medium but authentic. The cleanliness is good. The ambience also is good for family dining. The rates are reasonable. You get both south and North Indians foods here. The staff are cooperative and helpful. So ladies and gentlemen, while in Kozhikode, when you search for vegetarian option, please try Dakshin. Am sure you will like my suggestion.

Revisited this iconic eatery after years, only to find that it had lost its charm. The dosa and poori were hard, but idli and vada still held up.

This is a pure vegetarian restaurant, highly recommended for those who love vegetarian cuisine. They offer both dining and self-service sections, catering to different preferences. The ambiance is clean and pleasant, adding to the overall experience. It's an excellent choice for a variety of dosa options, and I had a great experience dining here.

I ordered special dosa of 184 rupees and they gave this normal dosa with some choped tomoto and onion. This is the worst food i ever had in Calicut.. Please don't go this restaurant.

I have been frequently visiting this place on my way to the railway station . I normally go to the self service counter below , we had dilly vada ,dosa and coffee ,the food is good . I request the cashier to keep a smile on his face :-) ,morning itself he looks gloomy
