This shop has earned a reputation for serving authentic Palakkad Iyer delicacies, attracting both locals and visitors seeking genuine flavors. Another prominent venue is the Taste of Kalpathy, situated at 5/366 New Kalpathy, Palakkad. The moment I stepped into Taste of Kalpathy, I was greeted with the enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff made me feel right at home. I decided to try their signature coffee, and I was not disappointed. The rich, bold flavor of the coffee coupled with the perfect balance of sweetness left me craving for more.
Tasty snacks. Ok ok meals. Situated in kalpathy. Average service. But the owners are very friendly. Go for coffee and snacks.
A Disappointing Foray into Kalpathy Cuisine: Taste of Kalpathy Falls Short As a discerning food connoisseur, I was eager to indulge in authentic Iyer Pallakad Kalpathy cuisine at Taste of Kalpathy in New Kalpathy, Pallakad. Regrettably, my lunch visit was a crushing disappointment. From the outset, the service was underwhelming. Disinterested servers and a chaotic kitchen set a worrying tone, foreshadowing a dismal dining experience. The unlimited thali, touted as a highlight, was an unmitigated disaster. Key ingredients were glaringly absent from the sambar, the avial was an insipid, watery concoction, and the potato curry was served with all the warmth of a refrigerated dish. Over-fried papad and subpar rice further exacerbated the disappointment. When I requested additional food, the waiters seemed put off, begrudgingly obliging only after my second entreaty. The cold rasam and waiter's reluctance to serve it in a glass added to the frustration, while the yogurt, requested separately, was a sour, liquid travesty. Upon exiting, I conveyed my disappointment to the management, who offered a perfunctory apology and a hollow promise of action. However, their lack of coordination was evident when they inquired about the payasam, which I had previously asked about. In conclusion, my experience at Taste of Kalpathy was an unqualified disappointment. As someone who values authentic cuisine and exemplary service, I was appalled by the subpar food and indifferent staff. Pricing may not be an issue, but quality of food and service certainly is. I implore the owners to take this criticism seriously and strive to improve. Until then, I caution fellow food enthusiasts to temper their expectations and consider alternative options that truly showcase the rich flavors and traditions of Kalpathy cuisine.
This restaurant is located in the historic area of Kalpathy in Palakkad, and true to its origins, the restaurant serves nice vegetarian food. We had traditional breakfast of nei roast, puttu kadala, and filter coffee and I enjoyed the food. Service is also very good. They have a variety of snacks and sweets that are freshly made and packed. A must try is their laddoo! The area in which it is located is a nice place lined with the old typical TamBrahm homes and is worth walking around.
Taste of Kalapathy is a veggie's paradise! Delicious vegetarian dishes, mouth-watering sweets, and cozy ambiance. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, and a great experience. Perfect spot for veggie lovers and those with a sweet tooth. Highly recommended!
Perfect place for pallakad Brahmins cuisine. Good tasted very homely. They didn't add onion or garlic in my dish. Besides food l, they also have kerala special vathal, pickles, chakkaveratti etc. Highly recommended for anyone who visits kalpathi
The service is very poor, and the hygiene standards are unacceptable. I noticed the cashier serving sweets with their bare hands, and when I questioned it, they responded by saying it was their 'homely style.' To make matters worse, I saw a server pour leftover water from a glass back into the jug right in front of me.
