Modern Hotel

One of the oldest and most well-known hotels in Thalassery, especially for its lunch. I have visited multiple times, and this time, I tried their lunch with Kethal fry and Aavoli fry--both were excellent! The sambar and fish curry were packed with flavor. The place gets highly crowded during peak hours, so plan accordingly. Their mutton chaps are also quite famous, though the sweetness of the onion sometimes overpowers the mutton's flavor.So it's not up to the mark.

The meals were good. But the mutton chaps are not the best... Also the squid fry is not upto the mark

I saw a reel describing the lip smacking mutton chaps here and made a visit. I was truly disappointed by the chaps. Mutton wasnt the least tender, and you could get better flavoured mutton chaps literally any other restaurants in thalassery! Fish fries werent great either. Dont know why they are so hyped! The only thing that make them unique is a tradition of waiting for a row of people to start eating! They start serving only when a significant amount of people are filled in a row of benches. I would prefer National hotel over them any day!

Food was average....but if you are travelling and exiting via irutti side, do check out *babu's hotel* for their meals, side dish and pradhman(payasam)...felt much better.

It's a very famous lunch spot in Thalassery. Now a days they're serving breakfast too. The restaurant has an old systematic service. The lunch served here is great it's north Malabar style. They have very limited menu. Mutton chaps is very famous here. It's very different from the chaps served by others. It's caramelized with onion so it's sweet in taste. Other than that 4- 5 fish fries including king fish, mackerel, sting ray and scrambled egg, egg roast are available. The service is fast and quick.

The place is very famous amongst local. I went there during lunch time and it was packed. Seeing me waiting with my luggage, they opened a section and within 2 mins all the seats were occupied. Although I couldn't take the non veg stuff and had to satisfy my palate with veg food only. While talking to regular customers got to know that if you like spicy food this is the place to be at. One extra star for the hospitality, when the owner (Akshay) came to know I will take only veg food he made me taste Rasam & Buttermilk. It was a good experience. Service is very bad. While eating meal with family I given a parcel order for a single meal. After we complete our meal we waited for 40 min than also parcel not get. And it was not at all a peak time
