An outlet for 'Freedom' brand of food products from the Viyyur Central Prison, Thrissur, which serve ready-to-eat food items produced in the jail at reasonable rates. Now, the food products are being sold at a counter at the gate of the jail and through mobile outlets. Chicken biriyani, chappathi, chilly chicken, chicken curry are major item's in the counter.The chappathi-chicken curry combo has many patrons. Vegetarians have the choice of tomato curry. The jail is also producing bakery items such as plum cake, cup cake, and coconut bun.

Good healthy quality ready to eat hot foods at very affordable price. You can even brought it and have it inside your vehicle or at side of road. And always be a responsible person becoz these all foods are packed using plastic covers , so dispose it properly at correct places. Foods are tasty, and they all made by prisoners inside the viyyur central prison, Thrissur. I brought one chicken biriyani, one packet chappathi (10 nos), chicken curry and chilli chicken at just 145. One litre bottled water costs 10.

Its main objective is to provide very tasty food to the public at very low cost. It is also to provide a source of income for the criminals who are imprisoned in the jail. This is an initiative by the Central Prisons department of the state of Kerala. Economically priced,they sell many food items from snacks, plum cake, biryani, chappathy , iddly, bread and more. All the dishes including baked items are prepared by the inmates of the prison for which they are rewarded generously in cash. An initiative worth applause the dishes are not compromised when it comes to taste and quality for the nominal price tag on each item. The demand is quite visible from the crowd at the counter and the speed by which the items gets exhausted.
