Buckwheat Restaurant Leh

I am always up for trying new cuisines and when I came across this unique one in Leh, I had to try it. I started with a Spicy Keyser with Tsamik. Keysers are buckwheat pancakes and they went really well with this chutney called Tsamik. It had main ingredient as curd. Then I tried Faymar which was made of barley. It had a thick texture and was slightly sweet in taste. The taste was absolutely nice for both dishes. Prices are slightly high but I would recommend trying out this unique cuisine. It cost me roughly 400 for these dishes.

The ambiance is simple and clean. However, the service was quite slow--it seemed like the staff member attending us was either disinterested or too shy to engage with customers. We had to write down our order ourselves, and even then, they served us mutton fried rice instead of the chicken fried rice we asked for. We also tried the mutton momos, which tasted good, but they were served without any chilli chutney or plates--just placed in serving bowls. Overall, the experience was just average.

Best traditional authentic Himalayan and Baltistan food in Leh. Really recommended

I wanted to try some local Ladakhi food. I ordered a veg Thenthuk and veg Skyu . The Thenthuk was great, just had to spice it up a little bit. They also told that, they make their dishes using "Buckwheat" a multigrain great for health, hence the name buckwheat. The soupy broth of the Thenthuk was really warming. Thenthuk can be somewhat described as boiled wheat in soup and Skyu is basically sort of a pasta in thick tomato soup.

I ordered the Mutton momo, and they were some of the worst momo I've had in Leh. They were small, tasteless, and not juicy at all. The filling was mostly onions and some questionable meat. Would not recommend. There are much tastier and cheaper momo options elsewhere.

Delicious buckwheat based home style Ladakhi cuisine. Clean, nutritious and very delicious, just what we were looking for after all the heavy hotel and restaurant food. The owners are passionate about food and it shows in the food. Just prepare to be a little patient as everything is made from scratch and totally worth it.
