Customer Reviews & Testimonials
Really enjoyed my visit to this hotel. The food was delicious and felt fresh. I ordered a misal which cost 120. Yes, the price is a bit on the higher side, but the taste and quality made it worth it. The open-air vibe of the hotel was also really pleasant -- it felt nice to sit and eat there. The only issue I noticed was the number of flies around the food. It was a bit distracting and took away from the experience. I think they should definitely install a fly catcher or take some steps to manage that. Still, the food was so good that I'm giving it 5 stars. Would love to visit again!
Food is best and atmosphere is pleasant. Very limited snacks dishes but all are fantastic and superb. Taste is very much appreciable. Cost also is very great. All are maharashtrian dishes and all are great. Must visit for authentic dishes. Chole puri is my favorites one here. And thalipeeth also great.
Incredibly tasty food We arrived in the morning at about 10 am and placed our breakfast order, which included thalipith, shrikhand puri, and misal pav. The shrikhand was the most delicious since it was made at home. The misal pav was absolutely mouthwatering.
Best Misal place I have ever been too, great atmosphere with brick color theme and seating. Different types of misal to choose from. Would recommend Rau Special Misal plate. Been here a couple of times and they keep expanding everytime, the demand is definitely increasing day by day, definitely stop by your next road trip on NH48.
It was purely hunger and my sheer luck that I landed on this . I had left goa very early in the morning and reached here around 10.30am. Hunger pangs were at their peak and we just wanted to stop at any neat looking restaurant on the highway. Upon entering the premises you come across the whole eco friendly system one can imagine. All stone made tables and seats. Full brass utensils. Self-service. Handwash water directly watering the plants. Marks for such nature serving attitude. Though they speak in Marathi only but I was able to communicate my order and was blown away by the food quality and quantity. Prices are also very reasonable. Every dish we ordered was much cherished. We ordered Modak on their recommendation and that too was made to perfection. One must not miss this place.
finally stopped at Rau Wada on the Pune-Satara Highway and--wow--what a gem. If you're hunting for an authentic Maharashtrian breakfast or brunch spot that also doubles as a mini-museum of bygone village life, bookmark this place right now. Food 12 Gavchi Misal - Their signature. Layers of crunchy farsan, sprouted matki, velvety tarri and just the right hit of spice. Every spoonful felt like a culinary tour of twelve different gavthas in one bowl. Thalipeeth - Rustic, perfectly char-grilled and generously slathered. The earthy aroma of roasted bhajani flour took me straight to my ajji's kitchen. Ukdiche Modak - Cloud-soft rice dumplings stuffed with molten jaggery-coconut goodness. A sweet finish that made me grin like a kid at Ganeshotsav. Ambience Imagine walking into a 100-year-old wada: red-oxide floors, wooden pillars, bullock-cart wheels on the wall, brass lanterns casting a warm glow, and classical Marathi abhangs humming in the background. Rau Wada nails that "ancient courtyard" vibe without feeling gimmicky. Sit in the open aangan for morning sunshine or tuck into a cosy deorhi corner if you crave shade. Service Staff here greet you like family--quick to suggest spice levels and even offer extra tarri for the brave-hearted. Plates arrived hot, refills were prompt, and smiles were genuine.
If you're craving authentic Maharashtrian cuisine with a touch of rustic charm, this hidden gem in Rau Wada, Kolhapur, offers an unforgettable experience. The vegetarian thali we had was a feast of flavors, featuring freshly made Bhakri, perfectly spiced appetizers, and an array of traditional dishes crafted with the freshest ingredients. The warm and attentive staff, paired with the village-style ambiance of earthy tones, lanterns, and traditional decor, made the meal even more special. Don't miss their heavenly Puran Poli and the refreshing Taak (buttermilk) to round out the experience. For anyone looking to indulge in genuine Maharashtrian flavors in a serene and traditional setting, this place is a must-visit in Kolhapur.
Ambience deserves Food was nice but a bit spicy for me. Variety of thali options available with Modak as special dessert item.
