Customer Reviews & Testimonials
Girgaon Katta is located in Borivali West, right opposite Moksha Plaza Mall. It is at a 7-minute walking distance from Borivali Railway Station. I have actually visited their old branch a few years ago, so I was excited to check out this one. The place was extremely crowded when I visited in the evening, so the waiting time was around 30 minutes. But the staff is very polite, and the food was served within 10 minutes of ordering. I ordered Misal Pav, Batata Vada, Kothimbir Wadi, Besan Ladoo, Piyush, and Kairi Panhe. Everything was hot and fresh. I especially liked the way the Misal was plated. It looked delicious. The Misal was made in an authentic Maharashtrian style, with sev instead of farsan. It was slightly sweet, and I personally felt the rassa could have been a bit spicier. The Batata Vada was the highlight for me. Unlike the usual batata vadas loaded with besan, this one had a soft and light outer layer and a spicy-sweet filling that felt homely and authentic. Kothimbir Wadi was also nicely made. The Besan Ladoo was delicious, and the Piyush had a creamy and smooth texture with just the right amount of cardamom. Kairi Panhe was refreshing, but I found it slightly too sugary. It maybe because I don't usually consume a lot of sweet dishes. I also felt it could have been a little thinner in consistency. The restaurant is decorated in a very minimal way with drawings and elements that reflect the Girgaon vibe. It's a non-AC indoor place, but the space feels warm and homely. Considering the quality and quantity, I feel the pricing is totally justified. Do make a plan to visit this place if you want to enjoy authentic Maharashtrian food. I will definitely go back and would happily repeat the Batata Vada. Wanted to try some authentic Maharashtrian dishes, hence decided to try this place. Ordered Misal Pav, Zunka Bhakar, and Piyush. Misal pav was decent but not the best one around. It comes with boiled potato in the base, and the gravy is little spicy. Zunka Bhakar was really disappointing. We went around evening 6:30 but had to wait for Bhakri to get ready. The zunka had too much garlic for my liking and was bland. The thetcha served on side was delicious and extremely spicy to compliment. The piyush was nice and refreshing, but felt little like mango lassi. Serving was little laidback and had to ask 2-3 times for our order to be served.
Girgaon Katta is a gem for authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. Their Misal Pav is packed with flavor, the Kothimbir Vadi is crisp and perfectly spiced, and the Puran Poli is a delightful treat. I also tried thalipeeth and bhaji plate! The ambiance is warm and homely, and the service is quick and attentive, even during peak hours. A must-visit for anyone craving traditional Maharashtrian food! Rating: 4.8/5
Upon entering the establishment, I was immediately struck by the impeccable service provided by the waitstaff. Their attentiveness and professionalism set a high standard for the dining experience. The restaurant's commitment to hygiene and cleanliness was evident, with well-maintained facilities that added to the overall ambiance. For my meal, I opted for the Missal and Loni Thalipheet. The Missal was a delightful medley of flavors, featuring a perfect blend of sev and masala poha. Each bite was a testament to the chef's expertise, and the portion size was generous, ensuring a satisfying experience. The Loni Thalipheet, accompanied by a fresh and flavorful chutney, evoked a sense of homemade comfort. The dish was prepared with care, and its authenticity shone through in every mouthful. Overall, the restaurant excels in both service and culinary offerings, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining Maharashtrian experience.
The restaurant offers authentic Maharastrian food which can be opted for at any time of day. Place is located quite by the side of the main road at an accessible location. Staff behaviour is good and on table delivery of food items is swift. I tried vada usal pav and methi loni thali peeth with white butter and tamarind coriander chutney which gave a burst of flavours in my mouth and was a perfect start as breakfast. Shrikhand was great too and tried piyush for the first time which had a different kind of flavour. Prices are reasonable in comparison to the quality of food offered. However only cash and card payment is allowed. One can't scan and pay, which I felt was bit difficult if one isn't carrying card or cash. Food taste is something which would make me crave for the restaurant time and again
Girgaon Katta, an excellent Marathi restaurant in Borivali and around. I think it fills up the vacuum from Parla to Borivali of the Marathi food. Like Panshikar, Vinay of Girgaon, Prakash, Mama Kane, Tambe, Aswad of Dadar, and Mi Marathi, Panshikar of Parla, it actually gives you best of Marathi snacks taste. The ambiance may not give Girgaon vibes, but it has beautiful murals that give you Girgaon nostalgia. Even their tea, coffee cups have the same theme. We tried Misal, Thalipeeth, and Kothimbir wadi. Their taste the best. It was the first visit. Next time when I am around Borivali West area, I will definitely visit to try more delicacies to pamper my taste buds. I went for breakfast on Diwali morning. It was busy time with 10-15 mins . Managing the orders for the crowd was little bit challenging for them but the staff was courteous. The best thing I like is they have a parking assistant (not a 100% wallet but can help you park too) who guides you to park on busy SV road No Parking zone. This is unlike this small restaurant.
My Google Review # 000370 I recently had the pleasure of dining at this Maharashtrian restaurant, nestled in Borivali West near the railway station & was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I stepped in, the ambience was warm and inviting. The restaurant's dedication to authentic Maharashtrian cuisine is evident in every dish. The service was impeccable. The waiters were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Their suggestions were spot on. The food arrived promptly, and the presentation was appealing. The hygiene levels in the visible area were very good. The flavours of Maharashtra were brought to life in every bite. The spices were balanced perfectly, creating a harmonious blend of tastes. The missal pav was a standout, with a rich, flavourful gravy. The Piyush and Kokum drinks - both were refreshing and complement to the spicy food. The meal portion sizes were also good. One of the things I appreciated most was the absence of excessive oil and artificial flavours. The prices are reasonable for average Mumbaikars. If you crave for authentic Maharashtrian food, do visit this place. All payment modes - cash, cards and UPI - are accepted. Parking will be a concern as it is a busy road. Visited here around 4-5pm , I would suggest you to go earlier as the main course is unavailable later. Good variety but sometimes due to timings restrictions could not make it out, would suggest as a business mindset to keep all the main course available all time, it mumbai people have lunch at the time of brunch sometimes . To the topic the food was really worthy the amount. Yummy home-made food. Best place for home made and healthy food lovers.
