Customer Reviews & Testimonials
As you walk into Chingari , the rooftop restaurant at Sheraton, Pune, you are blown away by the cozy ambience, the dimly lit tables, lilting music and a faint breeze that blows over the swimming pool. It's the perfect spot for a first date, a special occasion or if you want to make up to your loved one! A beautiful lamp shade illuminates the many tables that are scattered around the pool and the bar. The menu is expansive with dishes classified based on the method of preparation. For instance, the 1st generation 'Rivayaat' focus on food items made on sigree while the 2nd generation or Virasat employs the tandoor technique. The 3rd generation is based on modern gastronomy using sous vide and foams. I got to experiment dishes from all three generations, the first one being Gilawat-e-Chingari, a minced lamb patty placed on a crispy roti, that was a melt in the mouth from the 1st generation. Next up was the 'Bhattiyar ke Jhinge', tiger prawns marinated in ginger garlic flavoured hung curd, a 2nd generation masterpiece prepared in a tandoor. The masala was a little overpowering but the prawns were extremely fresh. Last I tried the macchi tikka that was served with foam and amuse bouche, showcasing modern gastronomy. In between meals, we sipped on a rose pinacolada garnished with rose petals, a perfect cooler that gave us respite from the summer heat! For the mains, I tried Nalli Nihari, a mutton stew that was a perfect melt-in-the-mouth. The flavours were much muted as against the ones I have tried before but the chef explained that because its a breakfast staple, it is made with minimum masalas. Stuffed to the core, we dived in straight for the desserts. Gulab jamun, kesar phirni and kulfi falooda added the much needed sweetness to the evening. The portions are huge so its advisable to order smaller quantities. We left home with our tummy and heart full. If you are looking for a romantic spot that guarantees you great food, look no further and dine under the stars at Chingari!
I visited this gem recently, and it's truly a perfect romantic spot! Open only for dinners post 7 PM, the poolside setting with dim lights creates the dreamiest vibe. They serve authentic Indian cuisine with a thoughtfully curated menu, featuring flavors passed down through three generations. A must-visit for a soulful dining experience! Cocktails you can't miss : Kesar Whiskey Sour - rich, smooth, and dangerously addictive. One's just not enough! Classic Mojito - perfectly balanced, super refreshing, and served with just the right amount of crushed ice. A total mood-lifter!" Appetizers Surprisingly, the moong dal tikki stole the show - super crunchy and packed with flavor, even better than the chicken galouti kebab! Though the galouti melted in my mouth, it's the tikki I'd go back for. Main course The Paneer Tikka Masala had the softest paneer and was bursting with flavor -- a true treat for both the taste buds and the soul. As for the Butter Chicken with Roomali Roti, it was absolutely delicious! Rich, perfectly spiced, and loaded with generous chunks of chicken -- comfort food at its finest Make sure to save some room for the Ras Malai -- freshly made, unbelievably smooth and soft. Even if you're full, this one's impossible to resist! Keep up the amazing atmosphere always team.
Chingari sits on the rooftop of the majestic Sheraton Grand Hotel. Twinkling lights from potted plants and the lapping water from the swimming pool is enchanting. The Mughlai cuisine helmed by Chef Gulam Quereshi is top notch. Recently, Jerlyn and I had a tasting menu from the new Third Generation menu inaugurated in the new year. Course after course came and as we ate I found some to be mouthwatering. The potato crusted moong tiki was delicious and the lamb on a bone in a kulcha was delectable and tasted even better the next day. The prawns were flavorful. Dal Makhani was fusion cooking as the lentils were a touch sour and topped with burrata which traditionally is served with bitter vegetables. The moong dal needed more seasoning to liven it up. The biryani with the raita was good. Roomali roti was warm and eaten up quickly to savor each morsel. Heera, the mixologist, gave us a Darbari mocktail which was luscious and was similar to sangria. By the time desserts were offered, I asked if a wheelbarrow was also available? Alas, no. Chef Gulam is a master with ras (taste) in his fingers. He is a humble chef who creates magic with his cuisine. I plan on dining here again when I visit Pune.
The food is not up to the price. Ambience is okok, FYI they play only 2 songs 24x7. Service is below average. We had to run behind the waiter to get water which tastes like bore well water
We had our office party here, the ambience is just awesome and if you are train lover then this place is for you, pune junction railway station is visible from this place also metro station is very near so you also get a view of metro train. They have awadi cuisine style but because they are located in 5 star hotel so they have limits in terms of taste. Service is pretty slow and dishes are too expensive so watch out about the items you order. Overall its just normal not so wow experience in good but only thing to enjoy here is ambiance
It is on terrace of Grand Sheraton Hotel. The ambience was great with beautiful lightings in background. It is an Indian restaurant and their speciality was tandoori items. Chicken Tikka and Subz Motia Seekh Kebabs were quite decious. The service was very good. It is one of the few restaurant in Pune on roof top. Worth visiting specially in winter.
Serving crazy smelly water with weird taste. Quality and quantity is ok. Don't try the biryani and female staff was arrogant and did not want to work. Male staff was extremely helpful and courteous.
One of the best places for celebrating of your special day. Our experience at this restaurant was just amazing. It's located on the rooftop of Sheraton Grand Hotel, next to Pune Railway Station. You can get great views of Pune City from this place. There is pool on the rooftop and the ambience here is pretty amazing. Food wise, we started with the Dahi ke Kebab, I never knew curd could be deep fried, and it was absolutely delicious, I will definitely recommend you to try it. We also had the Bharwan Shahi Paneer Tikka, the Paneer was soft and the grilled vegetables along this had an amazing taste. For mains, we ordered Laccha Paratha, Roti, Garlic Naan and Paneer Makhanwala, it was very tasty. Chef Rashid came out to ask exactly how we would like to have it and that was just a really good experience as guests. However, without a doubt the show stopper at Chingari, is their heavenly Dal Chingari (Dal Makhni), it was the most amazing dish of the day by far and you have to give it a try!! The hospitality by Hmingi, Mairav and Chef Rashid made our celebration special :) Shout out to the team. The only drawback of the restaurant that I could find is that some areas are not properly lit, we were having trouble reading the menu and seeing the food properly, but it was not a big issue and we were able to switch tables conveniently!!
