Customer Reviews & Testimonials
The Secret Garden, Kohima - A Cozy Hidden Gem! Tucked away in the heart of Kohima, The Secret Garden (TSG) truly lives up to its name--a cozy, hidden retreat perfect for those seeking a peaceful dining experience. For lovers of Korean cuisine, this place is a delight. The Seafood Hot Pot was both refreshing and scrumptious, offering a flavorful balance of ingredients. However, missing out on fresh crabs in the pot was a bit of a letdown. Hopefully, they'll have it on the menu next time! One of the highlights of TSG is its traditional floor seating--a charming and relaxing experience that adds to the authenticity of the place. Sitting on wooden floors while enjoying a warm meal makes for a uniquely comforting atmosphere. With its intimate setting, delicious food, and soothing ambiance, The Secret Garden is a perfect getaway for couples and families looking to unwind and enjoy a delightful meal. A must-visit for anyone in Kohima!
An absolutely excellent experience. When I went for dinner, they didn't have the main inside electricity, as it was load-shedding. That prompted them to give me 5-6 differently sized lit candles in a nice candle-stand to make it a candle-light dinner experience inside one of their cabins. The food that I took, Bibimbap, tasted well too. Good quality, quantity and price. Even the dishes which involve pork or beef as per menu, if one wants, they change that to chicken or veg as well at same price. Hygiene is also maintained well looking at the spoons etc. The outside and inside of the restaurant is really beautifully decorated with trees, flowers, lights etc. Two style of sitting arrangements, table-chair and cabin with table-pillow on floor. The behaviour of the staffs are really polite. The restaurant is on 2nd floor though which one has to climb by stairs. They also shut by 7 PM which is not something I liked. The location of this restaurant makes it a bit difficult to find initially, but it is worth going there. It is at just opposite to the Post Office. While in Kohima, as a tourist, it is highly recommended to have meals here.
A cozy cafe located on the 2nd floor can be reached through a flight of steel stairs. The place boasts both table-chair and Korean traditional seating. Coming to the food, we tried quite some stuff and the food was good overall. However many of the things on the menu were not available which was a letdown. Of the lot, the spicy seafood noodles were nice and the braised chicken was delectable. Also not to forget, the spices incorporated in mulled wine were on point (a cozy drink to suit the cold rainy day). A nice place to go to fulfill your Korean cravings.
Went to this lovely cafe with my husband a few weeks ago We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful ambience (most definitely the flowers! ). Service was up to my expectations, the workers were very kind and attentive ! My husband loved the Boba Tea! We initially went there to get dessert however they were unavailable, but the Boba Tea made up for it! I would recommend using alternatives such as metal straws instead of paper for the Boba Tea as it disintegrated very fast and we weren't able to finish our drinks.
Honest Critic. (Traveller & Food journalist) A restaurant which has an interior touch of the Korean culture. The sitting arrangement has both the Modern and floor dine-in design of an authentic Asian culture. Let's talk about the important part, the Food, 1. Did not like the sesame oil idea in a seaweed soup. 2. Choice of rice in Bibimbap was really poor. 3. Food was too salty in one of the dish. 4. Fetching the bill before it was asked was not a nice gesture. 5. Really appreciate the staff's manner and very attentive services. 6. If only the food tasted better as it is presented. I.F.Ratings Food authenticity 5/10 Food taste for general people 7/10 Interior 7/10 Cleanliness 8/10 Staff and services 8/10 Visit again? Not likely.
An absolute 5* experience to dine here. Lovely place and lovely hospitality. Very neat and gives you an upscale dining feel of an exorbitantly priced restaurant at an extremely reasonable price. Has a nice sir out should one want to smoke or take a selfie in the tastefully decorated galley. Has a floor sitting with a window view of the city if you are game for it. Many many options to choose from the menu card. One needs to just tell your spicy preference to the waitress and trust me she is all ears. We had a variety in our order from a seafood platter to a beef with salad and sticky rice to a very generously prep veg dish and trust me it was all worth it. One can try a Hazel nut Coffee with a smoke outside. The view outside is nothing great ... It's overlooking a government Post Office but a good place to chat over coffee.
The atmosphere was overall great but the price overweight the portion and lacks authenticity. The food was so salty made me remember my chakhesang fren. Black bean noodles was more like chow mein with dark soysauce .
Best Korean food I've ever had, hands down. The ambiance is wonderful. To provide a more genuine experience, they have cabins for intimate parties. And everything is reasonably priced in my opinion. Highly recommend their TSG basket, Peach Ice tea and Dwaeji-Gogi-Bibimbap.
