Found just after the Tamil Nadu check post, this local shack on Chinnar-Udumalpettu Road is a delightful discovery. Breakfast was a treat with tasty Tamil dishes served on a banana leaf. The Samosa and Vada tea snacks were especially delicious. The relaxed atmosphere makes it perfect for a leisurely meal. Surrounded by scenic hills, the location offers beautiful views. The rustic coconut-leafed roof and open-walled shack create a charming village vibe. Highly recommended for a blend of great food served in a traditional way and picturesque surroundings.

It is a small shack run by an elderly couple. It is just before the Anamalai Forest Reserve gate whil heading to Munnar. Since there is no refreshments available once you enter the reserve and you are advised not to stop, it's better to eat something here before you proceed. We got the usual rasam, sambar, rice, pickle, chutney, sabzi. The taste was pretty good and it was served hot. The couple also gave us some nice chicken curry and egg omlette. Support the local shops and avoid littering inside the forest reserve.
