Haribhavanam in Coimbatore is a haven for traditional South Indian and Chettinad cuisine, offering a flavorful and spicy dining experience. The non-veg meals are a feast, featuring over 10 side dishes, each packed with authentic flavors. My favourite side dishes here that I frequently order are Brain Masala, Chicken 65, and Chicken Fried Rice--each dish a perfect blend of spices and textures. The restaurant is always bustling, with seating that is comfortable but could be improved. Parking adjacent to the restaurant is convenient but fills up quickly on busy days. The friendly staff and delicious food make it an excellent spot for a satisfying lunch outing.

This is quite old (established 1971) and very famous (one of the best) restaurant in coimbatore. We had chicken bamboo biryani, prawns fry, mushroom masala gravy and chapati set (2 chapati). Food was delicious. Especially mushroom masala gravy was very tasty (vegetarian dishes are also very good) Prawns fry and chicken biryani was also great! Loved the food here. Service is good and quick. Staff members are friendly and helpful. Plenty of tables are present. Ambience is also good.

Latest Update(25/01/2025): I have recently ordered grilled chicken through online delivery. The chicken was not at all cooked. The pieces were raw and the blood stains were visible clearly as the meat was half cooked. And there was no vegetables, mayonnaise and pita breads served with the grilled chicken. There's no doubt that at Haribhavanam, the price of dishes are going up and the taste and quality are going down in the recent years. But what I faced last week was absolute bottom for them. I vowed that I'm never going to order again simply for the below reasons: Uncooked food, Exorbitant prices and Pathetic quality. Old Review ( In 2023): I went here for a quick dinner. I ordered Idiyappam and Mutton paya. Idiyappam set quantity was good. Mutton paya was delicious. One of the best around here. I also ordered Bun Parotta and Nattukozhi masala. Parrota was well smashed and came in multiple layers. In Nattukozhi Masala gravy, the masala(ground paste) was good but the gravy was ready-made as boiled chicken pieces were added to the gravy and both were not well mixed. The table service is average. There's enough parking for both two-wheeler and four-wheeler. The cost is expensive.

One of the worst service experiences I've ever had. I honestly don't know how this place is still running with this kind of attitude from the staff. Right from the beginning, the service was frustrating. I just asked if they had potato fry, and the staff literally gave me a look like "how dare you ask that in a non-veg restaurant" -- his tone and behavior were super rude and totally unnecessary. Then when we tried ordering something else, he started explaining the time as if we were disturbing him. If things aren't available, just say that or close the kitchen -- why behave like we're asking for a favor? To make it worse, another staff (I think his name was Sundaraj or something) was murmuring things under his breath as he walked past our table -- completely unprofessional. At one point, he randomly kept a dish on our table. When we asked what it was, he rudely said, "You ordered this and now you're asking what it is?" -- only to realize he brought it to the wrong table and just silently took it away. The food was okay-ish, but the experience made us feel like we were eating there for free or like we were bothering them by even stepping in. So frustrated. Would never go back or recommend this place to anyone. Absolutely disappointing.

Went to Haribhavanam last weekend. On a Saturday around 2 PM it was almost full but we didn't have to wait and got seated immediately. We ordered Bun Porotta, Chicken Pallipalayam, Kalakki, Veg Meals, Chicken Chettinad gravy and Wheat Porotta. First time having Bun Porotta and it was the best of all the dishes we tried. Both chicken dishes Pallipalayam dry and Chettinad gravy were very good. Not sure if Pallipalayam is authentic but felt similarities with Chicken Varattiyathu that is very common in Kerala. Had high hopes on Kalakki after seeing it on Instagram but it was just plain omelette in a ball form. I felt I normally make fluffier omelette than that so it was disappointing. Wheat porotta was a disaster as well. Veg meals was very good as well. We were served a sweet at the end. It was Kesari ( think it was Pineapple Kesari). It was too good. The whole ambience is nothing great to write about, it was decent though. The rest rooms could do with a little makeover. Parking is there for about 15 cars at the moment due to some repair work, if not it will accommodate 20 cars. They said there is another parking lot a bit away. The parking attendants were helpful.
