Amma mess - Non Veg

One of the famous eatery in Madurai. Wide range of sea food. First time I am seeing Rabbit Biryani. Crab omelette, crab lollipop. Items are fresh and delicious. Needs some fine tuning (some are less salt, some are not spicy).

Paradise for non veg lovers. Nice fish, meat balls, Nalli chops. Go for meals over biryani. Biryani was ok ish. Simple ambience. Polite staff.

I have been a regular customer at Amma Mess and have always appreciated the food and service. However, in recent times, I've noticed a decline in the quality of meals being served. Especially rice quality. Additionally, there's a server (an older man with specs--I'd prefer not to mention his name) who often tries to come across as humorous and friendly with customers. While I understand the intention, I've observed on multiple occasions that he focuses more on casual interactions than actually serving food properly. He rarely listens to customer requests and becomes intrusive, especially towards the end of the meal. He repeatedly says "nalla gavaniga," which seems like a subtle hint for tips. On one occasion, he even attempted to take over 120+ as a tip without consent. I believe tipping should always be voluntary and based on the quality of service provided--not demanded or implied. I hope this feedback is taken constructively to improve the overall experience for all customers.

I recently had the pleasure of trying the mutton biryani, mutton kola, and chicken 65. it was an exceptional experience! The mutton biryani was perfectly cooked, with tender, flavorful meat that blended harmoniously with the aromatic, spiced rice. The mutton kola was equally impressive. The meatballs were juicy, well-seasoned, and packed Finally, the chicken 65 was a standout. The chicken pieces were crispy on the outside, yet tender and juicy on the inside. Overall, this meal was a delight from start to finish. The food was flavorful, well-prepared, and satisfying.

Had nandu omelette. The cost is 330 and is extremely high. But the taste was pretty good. Also had rabbit roast which was really good with the masala. The kola urundai was really good.

Peak time lunch in Amma Mess is like waiting for Oliyum Oliyum in early 90s.. What a crowd during the lunch time .. tough to get seat as well as parking.. Somehow we got seat and had lunch it was one of the best non veg lunch in Madurai .. that kola and fish fry, biryani, mutton curry.. mouth watering even when I m typing this.. maybe the quantity is less but the quality is When we talk about price little expensive but it is needed .. will try one more when visiting Madurai again .. I noticed that the owner is on the floor to take care of their customer which is really a fantastic and best example how he is concern about them..

Awesome food no complaints. Very expensive The house keeping has to be improved The mutton Kari dosa was awesome. Cleanliness can be improved. The tables were very sticky Parking was excellent. But accessing this hotel is a challenge to the service road.
