Customer Reviews & Testimonials
Lovely place as we have been going there since childhood. However it is a bit congested when footfall is more. Food is tasty. Service is quick.
This review is not for those who are from Lucknow or those who have been here for long time. This is for those who are planning to visit Lucknow, especially Hazaratganj. I was thinking to write about Moti Mahal since long time but never had right time. Today I visited after a long time and it dragged me to an evening in Feb 2012. She: After a long time you still don't understand me. I can't do anything for this. He: I am not talking to you..... (long pause) She: Ok, let's order something. Do you want to eat noodles. He: ..... She: Ok, (to the waiter) one half plate noodles please. He: No, I am not going to eat from same plate. (to the waiter) 2 half plate please. She: (smiling) it will be too much. ..... After sometime they left the restaurant. Obviously he was not able to finish that. Why I mentioned this because after so many years nothing changed. Same staff, same quality and quantity, same hospitality, a little more price (although way more cheaper than other restaurants of similar stage). Just wow, I am feeling nostalgic. Today we ordered Chhole bhature and Masala Dosa. No no no, we are not fighting today. She: Who serve aalu ki sabji with bhatura and chhola He: Don't say anything. Whatever Motimahal does is correct. It's an emotion, not a restaurant. She: Yeah, I can understand ............. So, a must visit place for food lovers
I found this place to be over-hyped. This could be because it is one of the few only veg restaurants in Lucknow. I went there for lunch as I wanted to eat the famous galouti kebab. They didn't have that. So I thought of trying something else in awadhi cuisine. I asked for Lakhnavi biryani. They didn't have that either. They offered me Hyderabadi Biryani, which I didn't want to have. Hyderabadi Biryani for me is the Paradise Biryani of Secunderabad, nothing else justifies the name Hyderabadi Biryani. So I took what they suggested. The taste was average. It was more of veg and paneer pulao than biryani. I forced myself to finish half serving and left, wondering why did I come to this place. This is a chaat house cum restaurant so the interiors are basic. Don't expect it to be fine dine. People who come shopping to Hazratganj drop in for a quick bite, I guess. So expect it to be noisy, with people talking loudly and kids playing around.
On 28 may 2025 (Wednesday), about 8:30 pm ,our kids went to moti mahal which is located in hazratgunj Lucknow. As my kids ordered noodles, they spotted a cockcroach in the noodles and immediately complained but instead of making a move further or exchanging the noodles, they took the scenario casually and blamed the kids saying "cockcroach udh kar aya hai, kitchen mein nahi tha" even though the cockcroach was found inside the noodles. Due to not belonging from the city and to not cause the scene and also being took casually, the kids just came out. Today on 4 June when I complaint the manager, he didn't even took any action further and tried to compensate the matter by saying"inko adha noodles pack kar ke de do aur kya ho hi sakta hai"'. It's shameful to see a reputated Restaurant being casual for customer's health.
Menu is All vegetarian Just An Above Average restraunt - Nothing here which support it's hype.
Located in the bustling heart of Hazratganj, Moti Mahal offers a delightful blend of traditional and modern dining experiences. Known for its cozy ambiance and diverse menu, it stands as a popular choice for both locals and tourists. On our recent visit, we had the chance to indulge in a variety of dishes, including Chilli Paneer, Mushroom Chilli, Garlic Naan, and American Pizza. The Chilli Paneer was a standout dish. The paneer cubes were perfectly fried, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sauce had the right balance of spice and tang, with just enough heat to make it flavorful. Mushroom Chilli was another treat for the taste buds. The mushrooms were tender and well-cooked, soaking up the bold, spicy sauce. The dish was a packed a punch with its combination of heat, garlic, and aromatic spices. The Garlic Naan was soft and fluffy with a strong, fragrant garlic flavor. It paired perfectly with both the Chilli Paneer and Mushroom Chilli, making it an ideal accompaniment. It was freshly baked, and you could taste the buttery goodness in every bite. The Pizza was a bit of a departure from the traditional offerings, but it did not disappoint. With a crisp crust and a generous amount of cheese, the pizza had a good mix of toppings and flavors. Though it wasn't as unique as the other Indian dishes, it was a solid choice for those looking for something familiar. Service & Ambiance: The service was friendly and prompt, with staff members eager to help with recommendations. The ambiance of Moti Mahal is warm and inviting, with elegant decor and comfortable seating. It's a great place for both casual meals and small gatherings.
I tired Papdi Chat and Alu Tikki Chart..It charged like 160 Rs./- I felt the price could be little cheaper but the taste of both was upto the mark..You may try once in a lifetime
Updated- Very good ambience. At the heart of hazratganj. This place is very beautiful and good food. Staffs are also nice. Sometimes I don't know why the food is little awkward. High salt in masala dosa and The paneer dosa which I eaten here most of the time good. But sometimes I think there chef may be changed or something which have too much oil in the bottom of the plate. I wish next time will get the good results. Till now I am reducing stars. All the best chef.
