Customer Reviews & Testimonials
Authentic south indian taste must visit! Portion sizes are enough for 2-3 people!
South indian cuisine goes beyond the usual fare available in Dehradun at Rasam. With cooks from the south , the preparation is indeed authentic. The native south spices have been balanced really well in the curries! Well done ! Food 4.5/5 Ambience 4/5 Service ( by Harsh) 4.5/5 Value for money 4/5 There is ample free parking available. A must visit. Recent visit : tried thatte idli ( 4/5) , bangalore benne dosa ( 2/5) - (this was like any other butter masala dosa. Disappointed) filter coffee ( 4/5)
If you're in Dehradun and craving authentic South Indian cuisine, Rasam Restaurant is a must-visit. The food is exceptional, with a genuine taste of South India that is both flavorful and satisfying. The prices are reasonable, offering great value for the quality of dishes served. Additionally, the customer service is commendable, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Overall, Rasam Restaurant stands out for its delicious food, affordability, and excellent service.
I had high hopes for our much-anticipated Onam Sadya at Rasam on 15th September, but the experience was far from satisfactory. It was evident from the start that the restaurant was unprepared for the large gathering, and the lack of training and awareness among the staff only made things worse. First and foremost, serving a Sadya on plates instead of the traditional banana leaf was disappointing. This took away a significant part of the Onam feast experience. Worse still, poori was served alongside the Sadya, which is completely out of place in a traditional meal like this. While I can overlook the ignorance of authentic cultural practices, I cannot ignore the overall lack of service. There was no water served, and several key dishes mentioned in the menu, such as Avial (one of the most important dishes in Sadya) and Cabbage Poriyal, were missing. In any traditional Sadya, the servers frequently ask if you need more of any dish. But here, we had to constantly wave down waiters, ask for extra servings, and even then, they either arrived late or not at all, breaking the flow of the meal. To top it all off, the bill arrived with an extra charge for a Sadya, adding insult to injury after such a lackluster experience. While the food preparation itself was not bad, it's clear that hospitality plays a huge role in making a meal memorable. Unfortunately, Rasam failed on this front, turning what could have been a delightful Onam Sadya into a frustrating and disappointing experience.
Namaskaram This was my first visit to this South Indian Restaurant,One of the good South Indian restaurants in Town.Awesome place to have your good food experience along with your family and friends. A place that's guaranteed to satiate people's South Indian cravings ,I highly recommend this South Indian restaurant, if you really like South food ,The ambiance and taste of food was awesome. Vegetable Kurma and coconut Rice was just amazing and Rawa kesari halwa was the best I have ever tasted ,as it got some pineapple flavour,Need some improvements in masala dosa and sambar. If you want to taste different items you can order Platter over here. About service-It takes time,No issue because fresh and good food always takes time .pocket friendly to all. My suggestion they should put original banana leaf on the table so that it looks more authentic South Indian food. Also should have a washbasin out side the washroom. I went there with my colleague one of my friend was the south person and our overall experience was good ,Must Recommend to all who likes the South Indian Food.
We tried Thatte Idli, Platter and Filter Coffee. Everything had an authentic taste. The platter was really amazing and the dish I personally liked the most was Rava Kesari. My taste buds can still relish the taste while writing the review. Vada was so crispy and had an appropriate amount of oil. Dosa and Uttapam were also sumptuous. The only thing which I missed from my Bangalore Days was organic pure ghee on the table along with Gun Powder. Though they had gun powder, ghee was replaced by sesame oil (which is a healthy option, but I didn't like the taste). Overall a great experience.
Food was good with authentic taste. We ordered Bangalore Dosa and Pondicherry Dosa. Coconut chutney was the only non authentic item made without coconut. It's expected from South Indian restaurants to serve good amount of sambhar which was not the case. Sambhar was served miserly .
Food was bleh being a fan of south indian food I personally didn't like it the chutneys were nice that's why the And ofc 125 water bottle I still can't get over it The ambience was pretty !!
