About Our Restaurant
Udupiwala is the best South Indian restaurant brand that has more than two decades of experience in serving authentic dishes of South Indian cuisine. A search for lip-smacking South Indian cuisine ends at Udupiwala, located near Kathgodam Railway Station established by Mr. Joseph in 1999. We maintained the same flavor, texture, aroma and taste of our food, which we had 22 years ago. Udupiwala, a pure veg restaurant is a favorite among vegetarians in the town. The variety of dishes offered is quite impressive. Apart from South Indian food, Udupiwala also serves equally appetizing North Indian and Chinese cuisines. Customer Reviews & Testimonials
We visited a South Indian restaurant in the evening, eager to indulge in some delicious dosas with our family. Given our familiarity with South Indian cuisine, we knew exactly what to expect in terms of taste. Upon arrival at 8 PM, we were pleased to find that the restaurant wasn't too crowded, with plenty of seats available for dining. We ordered a selection of plain dosa, idli, vada, and sweet corn soup. However, the service was a major letdown. Despite the relatively low crowd, it took an astonishing 20-30 minutes to serve our plain dosa. Considering we can whip up dosas at home in just a few minutes, the wait seemed excessive. Moving on to the food, the dosa was enjoyable, accompanied by flavorful chutney and sambar. The vada and idli were also satisfactory. Unfortunately, the sweet corn soup was a major disappointment - it was subpar, to say the least. We brought this to the attention of the staff, but it seemed like they didn't take our feedback seriously. Overall, while the south indian food was mostly good, the service fell short of our expectations. The price is on the higher side only.
Not a recommended place to eat as per our experience at the outlet. First thing while should be reviewed in a restaurant is it's food. I would rate the food as 2 Stars in terms of Quality, taste and portion size. We ordered Idli, Vada, Rava Dosa and Onion uthappam. All the items were average while we like only Uthappam which can be tried. Dosa was too bad, it's masala as well as the covering was not made tasty and fresh, there seems to be an issue with their recipe. Sambhar was also not worth it, their red chutney was smelling. We had ordered lime soda as well which was just salty in taste, not having a good flavour. Rest there is no ambience, service was okayish. Overall, I would say it's not worth it, one must ignore to visit it when hungry. It's a negative feedback, as the food taste was even below average, so no use of wasting money here.
Absolutely horrible taste, simply put, this isn't what South Indian food tastes like. Even street side vendors in Delhi serve better taste. That's what monopoly does, no real competitor in the region. My entire family ordered different dishes, all tasted pathetic. I'll give you a hint, the red chutney simply tasted like tomatoes, they simply added mustard seeds in it to give it a look! Edit: I wrote the review while seated on the table as I couldn't hold myself back from writing one. So I went to use the washbasin which was in the washroom area and I swear you wouldn't want to smell it I held my breath and washed My hands asap. My mother returned from the washroom without using it as she found it comparable to the cleanliness standard that one usually comes across at Fuel stations.
We ordered mysore masala dosa and experience is pathetic. The sambar had a hair in it and we asked for exchange the staff was cordial but the taste was very bad .there were big chunks of potato inside the dosa in the name of masala like a cheap roadside restaurant they are not living up to their name.
The whole meal is over but requested water arrived when asked 5 time and a simple onion salad which we never get . Pathetic service, please train your staff. NOT RECOMMEND for a good meal !
We enjoyed the food at Udupiwala, especially the idli, vada, and sambhar--all were absolutely delicious. Their green chutney, made with mint or coriander, alongside the classic coconut chutney, was a unique and interesting addition I hadn't seen with South Indian food before. However, the service left much to be desired, likely because we were seated upstairs. Despite taking our order, they served the wrong dish (idli instead of idli-vada) and forgot the coffee. When reminded, they brought the wrong version--sweetened instead of unsweetened. While the food was great, the inattentive service overshadowed the experience.
I really enjoyed eating food here. The manager and staff here behave very well. I liked the tea very much and the sweet halwa was very tasty. I would definitely like to come here once.
Always crowded . Last 3 times I have gone had to wait a while to get a seat. Tasty food. Typical from south indian udupi style taste. But good
