Customer Reviews & Testimonials

Parinay Sood

The food here was ok and not worth the hype. I have travelled extensively across India and tasted different regional cuisine. I was expecting authentic Avadhi or Bengali flavours but somehow the fusion approach didn't meet my expectations.

I visited here for lunch and ordered Mutton and Chicken Biryani, along with Irani Chicken Tandoori and Kesari Firni. The taste was incredible and delicious. The Kesari Firni, in particular, left an amazing impression of Aminia in my memories, making me want to come back for more. Regarding the service, the staff were very cooperative and generous. However, the only drawback is that they don't accept online payments via UPI. I had to go from ATM to ATM to withdraw cash, but fortunately, one of the staff members helped me out by making the payment possible through his phone. Overall, I highly recommend this place for authentic Kolkata-style Biryani and Kesari Firni.

This restaurant is nostalgic. Whenever I and my parents went to Esplanade, we had food here. A nice aroma welcomes you when you enter. However, this time, after so many years I found it a bit underwhelming. Biryani was good, but kebabs were too dry. We also ordered chicken rezala which was too watery and tasteless. When we told this to the server he gave the following excuse: "the cook recently changed and thats why the taste is different". Certainly NOT the answer we were looking for. In any good place they would have offered a replacement, or at least an apology. The phirni was tasty. My recommendation will be only the biryani.

Horrible experience. Yesterday I went to the restaurant to find some good food. I order chicken biriyani and a salad which was delivered in time. However, immediately after delivery I find only a bone with a slight flesh meat. I asked them to change the piece. In response, they tired to manipulate me and then refused to do so. However, I did jot put more words and start my meal. The worst thing was the salad was rotted with a foul smells. I report the waiters but they told it was fine and you have to take that only. I offer them to check but they take but did not respond. The behaviour I found terribly wrong as per the reputation of the restaurant. I will never visit this restaurant again. Furthermore, High price bracket with very low quality of food I found in this restaurant.

Aminia, a name that goes along with Mughlai food in the old lanes of Calcutta (today's Kolkata). Visit this place to savour the food, do not expect a customer service. Try out Mutton Pasanda Kebab, Aminia Special Curry and Awadhi Biryani

It's really a good place to have Biryani in Kolkata...

We had heard a lot about this restaurant that it is one of the famous for Kolkata non-veg cuisine, but to our surprise it is very poorly maintained. There were flies inside the AC section, and it was all stinky. The plates were not cleaned properly. The food was average. We literally have to leave it behind and go not recommended at all

This age old place on the heart of Esplanade is one of the oldest and best biryani selling destination in Kolkata. The restaurant has both AC and non AC sitting arrangements. The sitting capacity is also very good allowing you to find a seat everytime you visit. The service is also good. Some of us might complain with the service but my visits have always been good. The food quality and quantity is also very good. The kebabs section needs some touch ups as the tastes varies every time we need to choose same dish. The biryani is the main fotay of the restaurant and you will find it before the starters in the menu chart. The moist flavourful rice, the soft mutton pieces and the well cooked potato just made my day. The service was very fast and polite. The atmosphere of this place is very much like the Esplanade market area.
