Customer Reviews & Testimonials

Victor Dey

Heart of Bengal in Barasat offers a delightful immersion into Bengali cuisine, standing out for its generally tasty and well-prepared dishes. The staff are commendable, providing good service that contributes to a pleasant dining experience. You'll find a wide range of authentic Bengali flavors here, from comforting classics to more elaborate preparations. While the fish items can be a bit inconsistent, ranging from "soso to good," the other dishes on the menu are consistently delicious. However, it's worth noting that the pricing for some items can be a bit on the higher side. Despite this, the overall quality and authentic taste often justify the cost for a truly satisfying Bengali meal. The restaurant likely boasts an inviting atmosphere, providing a comfortable setting to enjoy your food. If you're in Barasat and seeking a restaurant that offers a wide variety of well-prepared Bengali dishes, with the understanding that some items might be a bit pricy, Heart of Bengal is a solid choice. It's a reliable spot for a flavorful culinary journey through Bengal.

*WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER*. Do NOT recommend. To begin with, the decor and the location of this place looked reliable hence we went in to have dinner. Upon the suggestion of this person who claimed to be the chef we ordered 1. Chicken hot and sour soup, 2. Dry chilli chicken and 3. Non veg sizzler with chicken manchurian. After a 40 mins waiting time the dishes started to arrive starting with the sizzler then the dry chilli chicken and at last the soup. My god the food was horrible. Neither it was fresh nor it tasted good and let alone the authenticity of the dishes. In the name of sizzler they served us poorly made chowmein tossed in maggie hot and sweet sauce in a little larger than small sized bowl. For dry chilly chicken they served us 6 pieces of stale chicken thickly coated in besan batter in a tiny bowl. And the soup was also horrible. And all of this at a stellar price point with a slapping total of 578 Total waste of money and time. To top it all off they didn't even know how to serve the dishes, not that they even offered to do so in the first place. They spilled a decent amount of food everywhere as you can see in the pictures. Also through our stay at the restaurant there was no one whom we could ask for even water. All in all this whole experience was a disaster and would not recommend to anyone.

It is a restaurant with majorly Bengali cuisine. Positive: Location. Exact beside NH 34, Helabottola mor, Barasat. Food items were delicious. I ordered Fish Kabiraji and Office thali which included Rice, Sonamug Dal, Alu Potol er torkari, Chicken Kosha. Then I ordered Morog Polao, which was again mouth watering. Ambience was simple and sober. Negative: No parking space. There is an alley to park two-wheeler (maximum 3) at own risk or roadside. No parking for a four wheeler. Neutral: No water supply in the wash basin, a temporary water jar was arranged for washing of hands. I'm not considering this while scoring the review since the manager had apologized for this at the beginning.
